Help me decide what to do with my hair (pics!)

I have never dyed my hair in my life and have been greying for quite some time now. I've toyed with the idea of having 'highlights' but in a colour close to mine to cover and blend them. Today I made an appointment but I feel even more undecided than ever. Help me make up my mind.

I am not by nature someone who spends much time or money on my hair so I always feel it's out of my usual way to dye. I suppose I have always ridden on the red making a mark without too much extra trouble. I'm worried about having to do it very often and it not being affordable. I'm also worried about it looking bad and having to spend ages growing it out. I like things on me to look natural and simple.

I have nothing against being grey really if that is the best look for me but I am not sure it is the best look at the moment. I want to make the best of my hair and am worried it is beginning to look washed out.

I haven't done my hair for the pictures and it does need a cut so the curls are dragging out. One shows the grey better than the other.

What do you think I should do?

You have beautiful hair Margarita, I certainly wouldn't add any colour at this stage. Just a trim, and as suggested Moroccanoil.
Do you wear your hair up, if so, don't layer it.

No I don't wear it up. I have never found a way of doing it that I like and it's been layered for years now.

Thanks for the products suggestions gingerbread man.

I have hair a lot like yours, except not such a lovely blonde. I regret ever dyeing it but I started after sun bleaching made my hair have horrible roots in the winter. Hairdressers are a bloody nightmare with hair like ours. They want to layer everything, overload it with conditioner and then when they realise they've messed up, they get the straighteners out... my hair is getting rather fine and frizzy with age :( Curly hair doesn't always take colour well -something to do with porosity.

Gosh, no, don't colour it! It's a beautiful colour as it is.

Your hairdresser should be able to show you how to put it up (if you want). TBH I find my hair looks better up if it;s layered. Mind you, it's longer, totally straight and I don't ever wear a pony tail so maybe that's why.

Wow, that's your natural colour? You lucky thing, it's gorgeous. I wouldn't do a thing with it if it was me. Love the curl too, in fact I really like your hair just as it is, it looks great!

My hairs straight but moroccanoil do different products and some aimed at curls although i can't vouch for that.

Will probably be plenty of reviews to read through if concerned.

I tried it but overdid it! Waitrose does some amazing anti ageing stuff which is great for curls. Can't remember it's name but it's in kind of pinky packaging. The hairspray is v good.

Really don't colour it unless you're desperate to. It's a gorgeous colour! People spend £££ trying to get their hair colour like yours.

Well, I have decided not to colour but go for a cut and some kind of conditioning treatment. The comments on expense and faff have put me off plus I feel it's more me this way. My daughter is ill so I'm not sure when I will go now but I'm happy to post an after photo if you want Polly Smile
