I normally wear Converse but these caught my eye and I really like them, was thinking to wear with rolled up jeans. But are they a bit 2 years ago ?

I knew it plum Grin

A lot of people my age (30s) had them a few years ago. I see far less where I live now. That kind of thing may or may not make any difference to you. if you like them I think you should buy them.

BusterGonad · 23/01/2017 04:00

I'm going against the grain here but converse are defiantly the mum boots of trainers, practically every mum I know wears converse. I'd go for the New Balance.

Yes Buster, that's why I wanted something different. All you see is Converse.

I find converse extremely boring, get the New Balance Op, you know you want too 😂

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/01/2017 08:37

I seem to remember New Balance being part of the whole normcore thing a couple of years back.
But agree to Stan Smiths/converse being the mum boot of trainers. Grin

BusterGonad · 23/01/2017 09:08

New Balance were really trendy back in the indie days, I think 1998....that's when I first noticed them.

BusterGonad · 23/01/2017 09:09

I like Stan Smiths but old Vicki Beckham has ruined them for me!

New Balance are made in the UK, another reason to buy them over other trainers. My DD wears NB too, she's 4. Grin

carrie74 · 23/01/2017 10:09

I hardly think they're frumpy, but as with absolutely everything, it depends how you wear them. If you're going to wear them with shapeless 3/4 length elasticated waist trousers in a dayglo colour and a baggy t shirt (like the tourist photo above), you're not going to win any style accolades. But with rolled up jeans etc, fine.

AllTheBabies · 23/01/2017 10:16

I agree that converse are the mum boot. Definitely the most worn trainer by mums at my dd's school.

New balance went through a super trendy phase a few years ago. They are now still trendy but not everywhere like they were. I like them because you can get styles that are narrow so my skinny feet fit them.

delawar · 23/01/2017 10:21

My 19 year old has several pairs and my 15 year old asked for them for school in black and grey.
They must be something about them

PNGirl · 23/01/2017 10:47

I have some navy suede 996 that I absolutely love! Very similar to those. I'm 32 and a footwear buyer if that helps at all.

nigelforgotthepassword · 23/01/2017 11:29

I have new balance 996 trainers.I love them.
I also have superga white trainers for summer. And some very battered Stan Smiths
Converse have been done to death through I do like the new vulcanised rubber ones.

plumdriver · 23/01/2017 13:02

I like Supergas too. I've got the New Balance arriving today anyway Smile
