Can natural curls look 'smart'?

I have naturally curly hair.
I feel quite frumpy and I'm keen to smarten up my image and look a bit more 'polished' but whenever those threads crop up people suggest having neat hair and nails etc. Is there any way my natural curls can look smart without me blow drying them smooth?

Can absolutely look smart and groomed but must not be frizzy or fuzzy imo. Try Toni & Guy Sea Salt Spray or Trevor Sorbie Curl Cream but you do need a good cut.
I'm more wavy than curly, but my very curly sister has recently got an undercut which lets her hair fall and move very nicely.
Don't let anyone put in too-short layers on top as they will stand out when your hair is dry, especially if you are styling it yourself.
Curls are the best! Grin

Ahhh I like this thread. My curls aren't as ringletty as they were in my early twenties (am now mid-30s) and when I do manage to style them, the curl often drops quickly, but I think I actually prefer them now. I went to Matt James in Birmingham and thought the cut and colour were great, but the styling wasn't quite right for me - too "done" and shiny, as daft as that might sound.

Echolalia I totally hear you. I now go for late SATC SJP but don't always get it, particularly at the moment when I still have a ludicrous post-partum baby-hair fringe going on.

I've got curly hair and spent 30 years fighting it.

It's only in the past year that I have properly embraced my curls.

I had shoulder length hair that I had cut into a bob that's shorter in the back and longer in the front.

I use a few different products on it, boots own brand serum, and their curl cream it's amazing, seriously £2 a pot, and you scrunch up your hair, no frizz or flyaway bits. I then use mousse and hairspray, but that's because I have very thick, very curly hair that frizzes up. Thankfully it doesn't go crispy. But I get a lot of complements about my hair. I have a side parting and pin one side back a little.

Basically that was a long arsed way of saying yes, curly hair can be professional Grin

Mine is 80's Julia Roberts/Kylie Minogue. Love it on wash day but by day 2 its a nightmare. Flat on top, dry frizz on the ends.

Thinking of a perm to boost it........

I have curly hair but my natural curls are frizzy and uneven. I use silicone and sulphate free shampoo and conditioner, and tried the boots curl creme but it made my hair crunchy. Even if I did manage to get my hair looking good, once I've slept on it I'm back to looking like a lion. Do you all wear silk sleeping caps or is there a secret to lovely, natural curls?

I keep my curly hair short so it stops at the nape of my neck - then I look business-smart because though the curls are a bit wild the overall shape is sharp
