I'm curious ... Shellac removal

When I finally got round to going to the beauticians to get my shellac removed, she used cotton wool and foils which had clearly been used for quite a few other nails. Is this normal? It didn't feel too hygienic!

No not from my experience, they always use fresh foils etc whenever I have been

So it was okat to cringe! Some cotton pads had pink, some had ble, there were sparkles. Eeeew!

Bloody Nora - cotton pads cost nothing - same for foil - yuck! You're not going back are you?

I remove my own using cotton pads, acetone and foil. I've never paid to get mine removed

No - from my experience that is not normal! I either have them wrapped in fresh acetone soaked cotton and foul, or just dipped in a bowl of acetone. I most definitely would have cringed in your situation!!

Disgusting. Cotton wool costs pennies, I wonder what else they're doing to cut costs. Boak.

It's my regular beautician and only the second time I've had shellac. The foils were clearly used many times before. I had to stop myself pulling my hands away! It is pretty gross, isn't it?

That's cheap, disgusting and un-hygienic. How much is a bit of cotton wool, foil and remover? If she cuts corners on this, what else is she doing? Gross.

Nope never seen that before. You can do it yourself with acetone, cotton pads and tin foil very effectively.

Yuck! Fungal nail infections can be spread quite easily. As others have said, it's easy and cheap to remove your own. This salon doesn't deserve your custom.

Small town but yes, might try elsewhere. As you all say, the cotton wool and foil cost pennies. Shiver!

That's totally unacceptable. Removal isn't cheap if you use CND foils & nourishing remover but if you want to keep nails healthy it's just what you do isn't it?.

How much is your shellac?

Think the shellac was about £25 and then a few more to remove.

Ok, so you're paying the right price. It's less likely to be fake shellac ie gel.

I would find another beauty therapist, lots work from home in converted rooms or in log cabins in the garden. It's not acceptable to have poor hygiene.

She charged you to remove and then didn't even use fresh materials?! I know it's usual to charge, but even more outrageous given the recycling.
