A fold-up shopper bag like Le Pliage?

Has anyone seen one? I would love a Le Pliage but am struggling with the idea of parting with so much money for a shopping bag. But then again I do want one that looks stylish. Should I just take the plunge or is there something else (almost) as good?

Well they last forever, so I would say 'cost per use' makes them excellent value for money.

I've got a number of them and honestly, they're brilliant and so worth the money

They're strong and very durable, I've had mine for almost 10 years and the straps haven't even started to fray. They're also machine washable.

Would definitely recommend.

Really I am balking at the €8 delivery charge. I know it is a luxury bag but do you really get luxury postsge too?

I have several Le Pliage bags, and they last forever.

They're my go to bags. My work bag is currently my red large one. I use it for work stuff, and bits of shopping.

They're actually really sturdy.

I bought my first one in 2007, a smaller black one, and it's still like new. Now that's quality.

Isn't there a department store near you? They stock them in HOF I think and probably other normal ones too

Neither House of Fraser or John Lewis sell them online. Harrods do but their website doesn't seem to want me to buy one. I live in a remote area. It will be months before I go to a city. They sound great.

Selfridges sell them online P&P £5.
Not advisable to put in washing machine. I've dunked mine in the sink with soapy water but the handles and flap are leather which doesn't do well in water!

If you google "Le pliage washing machine" several people do it and recommend it.

I've washed mine many times this way and theyve been absolutely fine! Do it on a cold cycle.

Or stick to dark colours. I've only resorted to washing a pastel-coloured one. it was either wash it or chuck it. It survived.

I have two and both developed holes in the corners after about 18 months- not impressed

The handles are fine though.

I bought a cheap Pliage copy from eBay. It is black with brown handles. I use it if going out with the kids as it is big and I think it is smart looking.

But I really dislike it too. It is too big and I can never find anything in the bottom of it. I am so glad I didn't pay for an authentic one.

I was thinking of buying a cheap copy first to see I it actually does the job I want it to.

I've had mine for about 10 years and no sign of holes.

I washed it in the sink trying not to wet the handles or leather /suede flap.

I didn't manage to keep them completely dry and the handles have lost some colour- patchy marks.

I have a love/hate thing with it; love it as it'slight before you put anything in, hate because the interiors don't have pockets (just one tiny one) and I can't find a thing in it when I need to- black wallets and purses, phones etc fall to the bottom.

I love the size - can hold wipes, kids bits etc but it is hard to find things like keys at bottom due to lack of pockets. I suspect it is keys that have caused the holes in the bottom of mine.

I really only want it to have in my bag in case if overspill, shopping etc

Really tempted by a pale colour though which is silly.

Ohh I'd live one of these but cannot justify the cost, are there any good similar ones

If you live near Bicester there is a longchanp outlet that sells them quite a bit cheaper.
