Baby Changing Bag

Looking for some advice on a stylish yet practical bag to have as a changing bag for when my little one arrives.

As a handbag lover I was really excited about shopping for one but haven’t been too impressed or excited so far.

I don’t really like the ‘cute’ patterned wipe clean type bag (although completely get why wipe clean is useful!).

I was looking at this:
www.jemandbea.com/collection/amber-grey-white
but can’t see it anywhere in real life and it is also a completely impractical colour - does anyone have any experience with this brand?

Also this in pewter:
www.pacapod.com/firenze-leather-changing-bag.html
Anyone seen or owned this in real life?

Any other recommendations :) TIA

Hello, this thread is a little old and the links are out of date. Take a look at this handy page for a round-up of the best changing bags.

Have a look at babybeau. I've got the Isabelle and I love it! Get so many compliments

The Jem + Bea ones are lovely but not if you're pushing a buggy a lot.

My favourite has been a Cybex one that comes with clips to attach to the pram but also proper handbag handles. It's big but not bulky and has an excellent wet pocket in as well as a good outside pocket. It also comes with a long handle but it comes off & best of all is black and doesn't scream nappy bag.

I have a Tiba and Marl ETta clutch too for using in a rucksack.

Ooh yes- Babybeau bags look lovely. Lots of uTube clips of them. Actually OP uTube is a great resource for changing bag shopping- you get to see what they are like on the body & the inside layout etc. I may be slightly obsessedSmile

susantrinder that's what I was thinking of getting! I've always wanted one. There seem to be two described as large, one which is 30cm long and one 50cm long. Which do you have? Would love to know so I can get the right size.

I got a skip hop changing bag as they attach to the handle bar of prams really well. I'm usually a handbag person but since getting it I've enjoyed the freedom of not having anything on my shoulder. Whatever bag you get I'd check it attaches to the pram before investing.

I started out just using a Skip Hop pronto mat inside a regular bag (it fits wipes, cream and a couple of nappies - all I've ever needed). After about 6 months it started to fray and I upgraded to the Tiba & Marl Etta changing clutch, which I like even more and is only a fiver more than the Skip Hop. Definitely recommend! I like the Tiba & Marl rucksacks too but I've just never needed anything that big.

NannyW - there are so many different types of bag videos- some are sponsored by the companies & others are independent - my guilty pleasure!! It helps to get some ideas out of my system too- my DH thinks I've lost the plot!

I have the Jem&Bea bag in black , the one which was £265 or something. The Jemima ?
It's so smart , I use it for meetings etc too , I hung it off my bugaboo bee using a buggy clip.
I had a code for a bit of money off so it was slightly better. They are designed by an ex mulberry designer.

I've got a Jem + Bea bag too. One of the black leather ones. It's lovely and not very 'changing bag' at all.

I can recommend getting these so you can hang your change bag off the handle of the pram if you have one with one long handle (otherwise the space under the buggy is always just full of changing bag):
www.amazon.co.uk/Happy-Mummy-Hook-and-Stroll-x/dp/B00158DS0U/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1483999373&sr=8-1&keywords=happy%20mummy%20hook%20and%20stroll&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

I've got a large Le Pliage for a change bag with a large clear cosmetics bag inside for change mat, nappies, wipes, bags and a change of clothes.

I have another insert bag for food / drinks for me / bottle / bid / spoon.
After 6 months, you will need to put a whole load of other crap in it as well.

I've got the storksak tote. It's great! Doesn't feel like a baby bag but has useful features like insulated bottle compartment and the long strap attaches to the buggy.

Last post I promise! Have you looked at coco bow bags? Leather & v pretty but haven't used one myself ....

On YouTube I love Gator mom and Kate schwanke. The bags are mostly American but the packing videos are slightly addictive!

Went through a few changing bags & regular bag combinations with baby number one but got this as a gift for number 2
www.johnlewis.com/storksak-noa-changing-bag-chestnut-grey/p1939242
Have to say it's a good compromise between practical & good looking
Has an insert you can load up & put in another bag if you want, attaches to buggy well, big but not too big, handles & arm strap, not too heavy & copes well with baby puke (has been tested unfortunately), nice quality.
The only thing that's not great is the changing mat (soft but not very wipeable) so I use one from a different bag. It only has a small insulated bottle pocket but not a problem as I breast feed, so more bag for stuff. Have taken it to client meeting (with baby in tow) and managed to stuff folders / plans in it too.

I had a pacapod and loved it, especially for flights. I would just take the pod out that I needed (generally the diaper one as my babies would shit the second we took off) so I didn't have to faff around in the overhead lockers and when the babies were a bit older and needed less changing stuff, I'd stick snacks/yoghurts etc in for planes.

My kids are 5 and 2 1/2 now and I'll still use it when we do our west coast road trip in August.

Also loved my Kate Spade leather but sold it on.

Use a normal bag and just put nappies etc in a wetbag? We love these www.tickle-tots.com/shop-3 big enough to hold several nappies and a spare pocket for wipes, cream, muslin etc.

NannyW · 10/01/2017 18:47

I think I might order the Storksak Noa and see what its like. I guess it is normal enough that even if i find it doesn’t work for me as a changing bag then I still have another leather tote Grin.
I do think i’ll swap about though using the skip hop travel thing. Its strange, even though I love a handbag I hate carrying too much around with me so hoping I can be organised enough and good enough at decision making to not need to carry too much baby paraphernalia!
I do love Jem & Bea online but the one I like best is practically white...

Thanks so much for all the ideas! A whole new avenue of bag shopping for me to explore Smile

I've gone through about five in the last three years, lusted after a storksak Elizabeth but couldn't justify the cost at the time. You can't go wrong with a leather tote. Very quickly I found I liked having my hands free, without something hanging off the buggy. JUJUBE do some really practical bags, every eventuality thought of, they are a bit different though and come in beautiful prints.

With two toddlers now, I use a small northface rucksack with two smaller waterproof zip bags inside, one for nappy supplies, one for spare clothes.

Love my storksak too.
I bought some of these to attach it onto the pram as the strap is too long to just put it over the handle. I would highly recommend them.
