Help me spend £50 in m and s

I have been given a very generous £50 gift card for m and s. While it is tempting to blow it all in the food hall I really could do with some new clothes. Something I can wear to work as a teacher - not a suit. I went in today and just couldn't find anything amongst all the sale crap. I don't have a great sense of style at the best of times and could really do with some help finding something nice to spend my gift on. I'm thinking a nice top, a flattering dress or well cut trousers. Any ideas gratefully received!

Do you you have kids? Blow it on kids clothes, but I don't think they have anything wearable for grown ups Confused

The Autograph collection usually has nice shirts.

I would spend it on food.

But I like other posters' suggestions about underwear, skincare, perfume, etc. too.

I've seen some pretty, inexpensive, decent quality lightweight scarves in M&S too (a few times over the past couple of years).

Emma that dress is lovely! Surely Op your best bet is to go into the store and have a good look! M&S can have lovely things in if you take the time to look.

I got a lovely autograph dressing gown for Christmas.

I really like the spotted dress so I will try that on and see if it works for me, if not I might go for the kids clothes and give myself the money option. Thank you all for the advice. I would love to go for the beauty things but I really need to make money work for me at the moment!

Knickers

TheCakes that black dress with the sleeve detail is really nice! About two inches too short for my fat knees though. If it was midi length I'd be in there like a shot...

The trouble is, nothing like that ever gets near my local (rural) store. We're going to have the racks upon racks of multi-coloured polyester rejection to pick through until the end of the month. Seriously, M&S, give the sale three days then GET RID of it, and bring some new stuff in. Huge piles of identical unwanted horribly patterned clothes just reinforce the perception that no one liked what you were selling 3 months ago, and still don't, even with 70% off.

Found out last week that M&S make thick knitted black tights for grown ups, y'know like the ones that primary school kids wear. Was thrilled. Probably not what your average s&b person would be looking for though😁
I've seen some lovely shoes in there, some one posted a link to fabulous green velvet ones a week or so ago. So I'd may be check out the shoe section, but tbh I'd struggle not to spend a voucher on nice wine and nice salads.

I'm a teacher as well and I've got some good fitted tops and a pencil skirt in there. Their cardigans generally wash well as well - the dresses tend to be polyester which makes you sweat and feel a bit grim but the separates are good. I'd just have a look online :) it can be worth the search.

I got given a £50 gift card for my birthday and bought black ankle boots, some new knickers and some baby trousers for DS. If DS hadn't needed trousers I would have probably bought some nice thick tights.

Liquid Gold.

Or you could always do what I've just done with a refund voucher from crap stuff I got for Christmas: buy a lovely fat squishy new duvet from their Home section.

SenseiWoo · 06/01/2017 15:04

I'd buy knitwear-this one probably.
