Mixing gold and silver jewellery

I have always avoided this and stuck to all silver.

However recently I have mixed it up a bit.

Currently have on two silver rings (one with a bit of gold in it), a rose gold watch and also a gold ring.

Does it matter/ look naff?

Well when I had my colours done they said your skin either suited silver or gold but not both. So personally, no. Do you tend to suit warm colours or cooler ones OP?

However I like to be coordinated so expect lots of pp to disagree with me!

I always wear a platinum and yellow gold bracelet that dh bought me when we had our first baby, I like the combination of the two colours.

I wear a lot of grey/blue/ and green

Most people will suit one colour metal the best but I think if you like mixing them then it looks fine. Particularly if one piece has 2 different colour metals in it.

I wear both. If you like it, wear it.

I suit both and wear both at the same time. I think they can look good together. It helps that my watch, which I never take off is both.

I've been diagnosed as a blue spring so can wear either, though gold is better, so my rings are gold. I don't mind mixing, especially as my watch is steel and gold. But I wouldn't mix 3 colours personally! I think if you don't know which suits you better, and you aren't bothered about mixing, then just do what you like :)

People with neutral colouring suit both, I think.

IMO, mixing metals is great, as long as it looks deliberate, rather than an oversight.

What is neutral colouring? I get confused because I've read you should look at the colour of the veins on the inside of the wrist to see if they are greenish(warn) or purplish(cool). Mine are both.

I suit either gold or silver but I prefer silver.

I think the vein thing is a red herring. The easiest way to tell if you are warm or cool toned is to put white and then cream next t your face. If white looks better then you are cool toned, if cream looks better then warm toned. Some people are neutral and look ok in both.

It's a thing I got from my mum, not to mix gold and silver, as it happens I've always preferred silver and had a white gold wedding ring. Now when I look a Pandora of Links of London they put little splashes of gold on their silver and it looks fine.

Wear whatever you like and enjoy it.

I wear silver for all jewellery except my wedding rings which are gold. I like the contrast and that they stand out. I wear a tiffany and a Pandora bracelet together on my left wrist which would be prohibitively expensive in gold!

Skin tones to tend to be better suited to one or the other...

However, in my opinion, if you can wear gold, then you can also wear silver. But if you're better suited to silver, you can't really wear gold.

Yellow-toned skin, olive skin and darker through to black skin tones are better suited to gold - but silver also looks good on those skin tones.

The types of skin tones that are better suited to silver are often paler, with pinky under-tones, and gold doesn't look so good next to them.

I mix and match. I have a ring of my Mum's that is silver and gold, so tend to wear both, with that piece of jewellery as the 'link' between the two. My wedding and engagement rings are platinum, but I often wear gold earrings or an gold chain necklace.
