i find they always end up looking waynetta slob-esque

even ones that look nice when you first buy them

i don't want a towelling affair

current one is an m&s waffle pattern cotton one

tried the white company but they only have arse-skimming ones in atm

Eek. Indispensable.

Tutter · 21/02/2007 13:22

i have a fluffy one that's good for winter, but am looking for a lighter weight one that i won't end up boiling in if i'm busy in the kitchen making breakfast etc

(am due in july issymum)

I got one from Monsoon this year. It is fleece and ankle length, perfect for the winter, I haven't noticed if they have any summer ones in but they may be worth a look.

paulaplumpbottom · 21/02/2007 13:28

Get a cashmere dressing gown. They always look good and make you feel spoiled. I wouldn't be without mine.

MrsSpoon · 21/02/2007 13:41

Do you have to handwash it Paula?

Pannacotta · 21/02/2007 13:44

Tutter, I bought the small size, am size 10 when not preggers! This fits well (not now of course) and would fit a size 12 too. If you prefer plenty of room perhaps go for a medium (it does shrink a little after the first wash). I use mine all spring and summer long and it's perfect - way more flattering then my White Co towelling one (currently look like a pregnant michelin woman when I wear it!)

Tirnanog · 21/02/2007 13:49

I bought a silk kimono in China town, Manchester whilst visiting friends, and I have to say it has made the best dressing gown and was cheap too.

paulaplumpbottom · 21/02/2007 13:49

Yes thats the only downside.

TeeCee · 21/02/2007 13:53

Egyptian Cotton?

TeeCee · 21/02/2007 13:55

these have linen, velour, cotton towelling etc

JackieNo · 21/02/2007 13:57

I think the White Co waffle ones come up pretty big - I'm a size 20, and the XL is huge on me, even once it's been washed (and they do specifically say they shrink when first washed so may appear too big when you first get them).

Tirnanog · 21/02/2007 13:57

like the Missoni robes a lot, maybe it's time for a change!

Tutter · 21/02/2007 14:00

jackieno - think that's because they're unisex, so an XL for ladies would prob only be a L in their gowns...?

Bodas stuff is supposed to be nice (only in white though, by the looks of it). Or something rather glamorous ? Actually, Figleaves have a fair few that look nice.

JackieNo · 21/02/2007 14:01

Possibly Tutter - though the XL in their women's clothing is for size 18-20. I'm not complaining though - I still love it, and it's better than having something that gapes open all the time.

Twinkie1 · 21/02/2007 14:01

I always buy my dressing gowns from the white company - their velvety ones are nice - very heavy weight and wash really well - have the chocolate one at the moment and I love it.

TeeCee · 21/02/2007 14:11

Tirnanog · 21/02/2007 14:12

love the whispering grass pj's

JackieNo · 21/02/2007 14:14

This is pretty . But dry clean or hand wash - not a chance (not in my house, anyway).

Just noticed that that Plumo kimono I linked to is also on the page that TeeCee linked to, the idlewild one.

Tutter · 21/02/2007 14:15

think i'll go for the white co's waffle one, as a few of you have recommended it

good excuse to buy afew more bits while i'm at it...
