Just that really, going next week for a 90 minute lesson to overhaul my makeup routine. Has anyone been before?

What are the MAC products you recommend? I'm forever looking for the perfect foundation and trying to keep my makeup on my face for longer than 4 hours....

If you have a big budget obviously you could get everything/most of the things they use on you.

Make sure they are aware of your skin type like if you have oily or dry skin because its important they use the correct primers etc.

I'm a fan of their primers I have been a long term user of the studiofix foundation, concealer, mineralise skin finishing powder I also would recommend their lipliners, eyebrow pencils n eyebrow gels. I have used their eyeliner, mascara and blushers but I think you can go for cheaper alternatives.

Obviously tools are important too.. Their brushes are very good but expensive.

I love their matte lipsticks but I agree that some shades (rubywoo) can be very drying and unforgiving if you have dry cracked lips.

I tried their bb cream before, did not re purchase, I have oily skin and it wasnt a great combination, also I like buildable coverage.

Hope that helps and have fun. Also if you do not like the product do not feel pressured to buy, you will probably be unable to return it. Also, when they swatch your foundation look at yourself in natural light.

Also try and observe the technique of how they apply your makeup.

Fix plus & mineralise (sp?) settling powder. Don't buy the lipsticks, eye shadows, blush etc. Go to Kiko and buy them there. They're made in the same factory & theyre so similar I can't tell the difference and I buy a LOT of make up Wink

I did a MAC lesson last year - it's really good. I redeemed the cost of the lesson against an eyeshadow palette and a brush. Wish I had got more brushes now.

Great tip OnTheUp about KIKO.

Thanks for the tips, I was going to focus on skin products, like the primers and foundation as I struggle with that the most. I don't wear lipstick that often but I'm hoping to learn how to make my lips look fuller as I always end up looking like a clown when I've tried to line them in the past.

I'm interested in brushes too but I think they might be a tad too pricey for me there, I've heard alot of good things about the real techniques brushes so I will see what they use and try to look for similar.

Yes real techniques has a basic face brush set. If you focus on primers and foundation just make sure you still apply blush or you contour and highlight; with just foundation your face will end up looking flat.

Lipliners can be amazing when done well, I have a few from mac because I like the consistency and staying power, I really can't wear lipsticks now without lining first especially if I'm wearing a red lipstick.

Their cream blush vintage rose is good. I am pasty white but apparently it is good on all skin colours.

purpleviolet1 · 14/12/2016 20:48

On the up, can you recommend anything particular from kiko?

MathsFiend · 14/12/2016 23:42

I like the real techniques stippling brush, but don't rate their eyeshadow brushes at all.

FrickOnAStick · 14/12/2016 23:46

The MAC 217 eye blending brush is very good. It's meant for blending powder shadow but is a great all-rounder for application too (great shape, weight and size). I like RT brushes but I don't rate their eye offerings. Their face brushes are excellent though.

GlobalTechIndustries · 14/12/2016 23:49

Do there products have staying power compared to other brands ?

MightyMunki · 15/12/2016 10:15

Well that's what I'm hoping Blush. My SIL uses their products on her clients for their wedding makeup and it does seem to last well.

PurpleViolet
Their cream lipsticks are amazing.

Wet and dry eye shadows are fab

Their standard eyeshadows blend like a DREAM!

The nail polish wears super well.

Thanks on the up!

I had one for my birthday, was great fun. I love their prep and prime highlighter, use that everywhere! Not keen on the foundation though as the colour never seems right.
