Quick skin pick-me-up - WWYD?

Okay. Beginning of summer here. Aged 43, combination skin, no particular issues except usual ageing/dullness, enlarged pores around nose, some sun damage. Light forehead wrinkles.

I can afford a one-off skin treatment, but my a course. What would give me the most bang-for-buck in 'freshening' my face? Eg acid peel, Botox, microdermabrasion?

And ideas/experiences much appreciated! Smile

I don't know about any of the above, but a super quick fix is Soap and Glory Hocus Focus.

Im not sure one off will make a significant difference but based on experience a peel and subsequent microdermabrasion all from a dermatologist.

No big skin peeling stuff this close to summer. I have some Aussie friends who got peels/laser and weren't careful enough and now have significantly worse skin for it.

Are you a fellow perthite? I'd go Botox now I think.

Softkitty2 · 12/12/2016 15:22

Sorry i didnt realise you lived down under but I will have to agree re: chemical peel + sun is a no no

Yep! Grin I think you're probably right. Any Botox recommendations?!

Thanks for all the thoughts!

Thought I remembered you from another thread. Smile

I don't know anywhere good I'm afraid. I'm looking for a derm who will chat anti aging and retanoids with me but I don't know my at all!

Not the treatment fix you're probably after but my skin was still spotty and dull as I headed toward 40. I had a red 'spot' on my face that looked like a collection of tiny veins and it gradually got a little larger over a long period (nothing scary though - more like thread veins)

I started using La Roche Posay cleansing gel and I honestly couldn't believe the difference. Skin cleared up, pores closed and the red spot is now like a pin head.

Have since bought a lot of their other stuff and think the effaclar duo makes a difference at keeping skin clear and bright - if I get tardy and lazy and skip it for a few days it's noticeable

The spring water spray is refreshing in the heat!

Ooh, thanks Chish! Which cleansing gel (do they have a few)?

Hoo, I'm a bit terrified of Botox. Everyone I know who's had it has got mildly 'addicted' and now hates how they look without it. And I can't afford it on an ongoing basis, really. (Could be convinced if I found someone amazing to do it, though...)

It was this one
Seemed frivolous at the time I bought it (very low maintenance here!!) but lasts ages

Used it for about 4 months then decided to treat myself to the Duo, eye gel, moisturises etc - there's usually 3for2 offers on all year round

Don't regret a penny (even though it's a tiny spend compared to others!)

KoalaDownUnder · 13/12/2016 07:16

Thank you! I'll give it a go. Smile
