Please help me sort my skin out

My skin has been problematic for a few years now, but I've had enough. It's very red, sore and prone to spots but also dry and flaky. My cheeks feel rough and bumpy.

I've been using Clinique redness solutions cleanser, moisturiser and makeup for a couple of years, which helps a little. I don't however use them daily since I left work.

I would love to have nice skin again. I was the least spotty teenager ever, so maybe it's just my turn!

I had a similar problem, dry but problematic skin.

I found la roche posay from boots was fantastic (3 for 2 at the moment)

I used it twice a day, tried to improve my diet with plenty of fresh fruit & veg and lots of water.

Also used a fresh towel daily to prevent bacteria spreading.

After a concerted effort my skin cleared up and looks great now.

Sounds similar to my skin. I concur with JustSpeakSense La Roche Posay is helping me loads. Since I started using it I have had no new spots and those I have got are healing.
I've tried Cetaphil which felt lovely on my skin but caused loads of spots and Neutrogena which just dried my skin more until it was really sore.
Definitely recommend La Roche Posay and agree cleaning up your diet does help a bit too.

Thank you both, will definitely pop to boots tomorrow and give that a try.

Diet is almost certainly an issue, I have a very sweet tooth and a Diet Coke addiction. So far been unsuccessful in dealing with both for more than a few weeks Blush

My skin improved dramatically after I started following www.carolinehirons.com. You'll probably have to trawl through a bit to find the information you need for your particular problem but I've come to rely on pretty much everything she says - although I don't buy some of the more wildly expensive products she recommends! Fortunately she regularly recommends more affordable stuff too.

FrancineSmith · 06/12/2016 19:04

Thank you SharpLily, I will have a good read.

I've just had a look on boots at la Roche Posay and it's quite an extensive range. Any particular products you would recommend?

I had adult acne from the ages of 18 until I had a colonic at 36. I had tried everything else so thought what the hell it changed my life for the so much better. I never thought I had gut issues (Candida overgrowth, and a leaky gut). The colonic cleared it all out and a coconut oil, probiotic rich, clean diet ever since means I have lovely skin now.

Another one to recommend La Roche Posay - you can get it on Escentuals or LookFantastic - look for when they do 33% off French Pharma stuff and also use Topcashback or quidco too.

I currently use Effaclar Duo at night and the version with a tint in the morning with extra foundation on top if I'm going out
There is an offer on LF at the moment too.

I also have the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Pro Recovery 40ml for when I have sore and red patches

Has definitely made a difference to my spotty 40 year old skin!

Agree LRP is a life saver for sensitive skin. I love Dr Hauschka products (Rose Day Cream is my holy grail moisturiser, despite eye watering price) but if I'm skint, La Roche Posay is a good stand in.

I had similar skin and started using pure organic coconut oil on it. I have the most amazing skin now, it calmed right down and looks incredibly healthy
