PC - still do your make up.

foundation, light blusher, mascara and a bit of lippy - natural look is good

poppiesinaline · 16/02/2007 19:10

probably not a good thread to mention then that DH and I went out with a couple from his work last weekend (the girl was 25, no kids)... she apparently thought I was the same age as her......

was when I told her I was 37 with 3 kids

mind you.... it was very dark

OttergavebirthonValentines · 16/02/2007 19:14

I coldn't even get served in pubs when I was 21, had to send my 16 year old sister up to get the beer instead [grrrr]

kids do that to you I guess

I will see if I have a pic thats vaguely postable (bar the usual posh one of me looking like a film star 9 years ago LOL)

luckylady74 · 16/02/2007 22:05

i have had very positive 'don't you look young and trendy ' comments about my £14 asda cardy from what i think of as the fast student fashion section - i only got it cos it covered half my bum! did i see a very youuthful women on something special? on the other hand people assume that me(32) and husband(4f**king4) are the same age - nice for him!

moondog · 16/02/2007 22:08

Tiredmamma was it you that was rudely moved on by the Russell Brand lookalike who didn't want parents clogging up his stall??

PeachyClair · 16/02/2007 22:10

cod you're right about teahcers. I went back to my old school recently and was shocked that two male teachers were still there. I thought they were ancient in the 80s but clearly they just had a bit of grey in their hair (were prob about 35-40 back then).

Chandra · 17/02/2007 09:08

Peachy, don't take them seriously, as Cod has said for young people every one look older, and may add that they even can't calculate age because they have not been there or interact much with people older than them... i.e. a few weeks ago I was talking to DS and asked him how old he was, "three" he said, then I asked him how old did he think I was. After much hesitations he said "erm...nine?", so I laughed and said I am mcuh older than that, with a sheer of incredulity he looked at me and then said "TEN??????????"

Obviously.... you would expect them to learn a couple of things before they go to University but some just don't

moondog · 17/02/2007 09:26

rofl tiredmama. It cracked me up!

I was at a carboot sale with a friend recently. She is a very fragile single 42 year old with lots of relationship and personal issues (you know the sort).

Anyway, some bloke on one of the stalls started chatting to us and after a while said. 'So you're mother (ie her) and daighter (ie me) right?'

As you can imagine,it did nothing for her already shattered ego.

I recall she went straight home.

florenceuk · 17/02/2007 14:11

What about nice pair of trousers (not jeans). Gap do about 3 different styles of black trousers, the modern cut is quite nice. For summer, linen trews. Then some cheap but trendy tops to ring the changes? V-neck, relatively fitted styles work better with a bust probably. My work uniform is black or grey trousers, jersey top and cardy - and somebody guessed my age the other day as mid-30s (I'm 41!). You could experiment with the tunic over trousers look as well.
