Best make up counter in Boots for cheapish polished daytime look?

I am going into the city centre shopping on my own tomorrow which is a very rare event. In my quest to look less frumpy dragged through a hedge backwards I am hoping to get some new make up. I have foundation (never wear it though) but need eye and lip stuff. What's the best beauty counter in Boots (have advantage card points) that doesn't cost the earth please? I have really sensitive eyes so heavy Bobbi Brown type eye make up is out. Am thinking No. 7 or Benefit?

Won't have time to trawl all counters as also hoping to do underwear and jean shopping with my limited time!

Should add I am mid to late thirties in case that makes a difference.

Yeah stick with something like Benefit really. Soap and glory is affordable and so is NYX.

Thanks, there is definitely a Benefit counter there (I need serious help so was hoping to get a mini makeover) so will check that out.

Are you white? Then Benefit.

If not then No 7.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/12/2016 18:38

Yes, white. Have had Benefit before and liked it.

Best mascara for sensitive eyes anyone? Is that going to be No. 7? I remember Aveda mascara being good for me pre-children but wouldn't get any advantage points!

Re -consider Bobbi brown . It's all about natural ,understated, easy maintenance looks. I'm a huge benefit fan too but I find their stuff way more dramatic !

I did love Bobbi Brown but my eyes didn't! They swelled up and were weeping for 3 days afterwards. Admittedly this was about 8 years ago.

For eyeshadow palettes I would recommend Sleek iDivine palettes. Cheap as chips, great pigmentation and an amazing range of colour ways. It is a very soft blendable powder with good staying power. I also have sensitive eyes and have had no problem with these.

Just googled them, they look good. If I have no joy in the shops tomorrow I might order them, thanks Liiinoo

No 7 powder and mascara is good, but I'm not a fan of their eyeshadow. Not enough pigment. Bourgeois blusher is good and lasts forever.

Have a look at Smashbox as well, OP. But none of these counters are really what I would call inexpensive! For that, I'd go to the beauty aisles.

I think I was thinking counters as I really am clueless. Have started to wear a bit more make up over the last year but hardly own anything and not sure what suits me. Even if I put loads of eyeshadow on I either still look like I have nothing on or it creases really badly. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Do I need some kind of eye primer?

I guess I could get some ideas from he counters, buy one thing then go to the aisles. I did used to love Bourgeois many years ago as a teenager.

No7 mascaras are excellent ime for sensitive eyes.

Thanks for all suggestions. Will investigate today 😊.
