The #5wears #10wears & #30wears challenge

Are you trying to limit shopping? Is your wardrobe full of perfectly good items that are not getting enough attention? Or are you trying to get rid of items that are not being worn much?

The #30wears challenge means that every time you are buying something new you are committing to wearing it at least 30 times.

You can also participate by pledging to wear something you already have 5 times, 10 times or 30 times.

Listing my goals - if I don't reach my goals this winter, these will be purged from my wardrobe!

SWEATERS
Some of these were expensive splurges, languishing unworn...

#5wears goal
Gray mohair sweater
Pink cashmere sweater
Blue Fair Isle cardigan

COATS
These two were bought a couple of years ago and have been worn quite a bit. I am trying to decide whether I still need them:

#5wears goal
Olive green down jacket
Forest green parka

JACKETS
I tend to prefer sweaters to jackets but these two deserve to be worn more often.

#5wears goal
Khaki green quilted jacket
Only Navajo pattern coatigan

TROUSERS AND JEANS

#5wears goal
MiH Daily blue jeans
MiH Oslo blue jeans
Black ski pants

I've never heard of this challenge, but it wouldn't occur to me to buy anything that didn't have at least 50+ wears in it (day to day) or 10+ (special occasions)

I have stuff dating back to the 1980s that's still going strong! (OK, a lot of stuff from then has either worn out, been damaged or fallen so far out of fashion I've charity-shopped it).

But who on earth - even with today's relatively low clothes prices - really afford to go through clothes without actually wearing them?

I'm not promising to commit but it's an interesting idea and I'll be following.

One thing that puts me off is that I sometimes resurrect clothes after 10 or 20 years that would probably have failed this test and been dumped.

The sad thing is that some of my least worn clothes are also my favourites. 'Saving for best' has a lot to answer for.
