Please help me with eye make up

I have hardly ever experimented with eye make up, and really want to make my eyes look nice for a general day time look. I think my eyes may be hooded. If I post a picture of a close up (no make up) can anyone give me any beginners tips please? Thank you so much for any advice Smile

Try googling or You-tubing it, there are plenty of makeup tutorials out there.

First - have you eyebrows waxed - it'll give your eyes a lift

Invest in some eyeliner pen and use a cotton bud and eye make up remover to touch up if necessary

Then use skins tones - either lighter on the lid then darker in the sockets or darker on the lid and highlighter on the brow

You do indeed have hooded eyes and PP is correct - Google Lisa Eldridge / Pixiwoo and various other make up artists who do tutorials.

If you don't mind me saying, you'd benefit from having your eyebrows shaped (waxed or threaded). With hooded eyes, you need to create depth by 'moving' or recreating your socket line. Shaping your brows give more space in which to do this.

Can I recommend the Pixiwoo tutorials on youtube? I worked with these ladies earlier this year and they changed the way I did my makeup. I never had compliments about my makeup before but I do now and my look is very simple. I was wearing bronzer all wrong and thought I was too old to do an eyeliner flick - I wasn't.i do a variation of their smokey eye every day - subtle most days, more dramatic for parties and it's a winner.

I have a similar eye shape to you and had a makeup lesson with a make up artist recently.

As our eyes are quite hooded, don't put any eyeshadow in the crease. Instead, try colour under your eye and on the upper lid.

Look up YouTube vids for hooded eyes.

I would say defiantly an eyebrow wax, threading whatever works for you to really open up your eyes, maybe if you are completely new to eye make up I'd suggest Benefits Big Beautiful eyes? It's a palette with an instruction leaflet and the colours are quite natural and generally suit everyone. I totally agree with the idea of looking in you tube for tutorials or booking an appointment with Mac or Bobbi Brown. Well trained make up people.

Thank you for the tips! Will definitely get my eyebrows done.

Book a free tutorial at the Bobbi Brown counter. They know their stuff!

I thought brow waxing wasn't recommended as it stretches the skin & can lead to sagging in later years?

Cat2014 · 11/12/2016 09:20

Would you use eyeliner under my eyes?

Yes you're right lego. Waxing isn't recommended for the face as it pulls at the delicate skin and causes sagging and fine lines (can especially cause or worsen fine lines above the lip). Definitely threading for eyebrows

Generally eye liner under the eyes can be aging. It's recommended to go from the outer eye to just where your pupil is, so about half way.
