Evening all!
I have found myself stuck in a bit of a make up rut!
I'm 32 and still using Rimmel. It's reasonable priced and easily accessible but am now thinking I need something for my more mature skin and something that can last the day, that can cover up dark circles and maybe an eyeliner and mascara that doesn't fall off throughout the day!

And recommendations greatly appreciated!

If you have the time, why don't you go to a few beauty concessions in JL or similar and ask them to try some products on your skin? I say that because foundation is very personal to skin type.

I'm 39 and don't generally wear proper foundation day to day. I prefer tinted moisturiser (Nivea), but add concealer if needed (would use YSL touché éclat for under eyes, or Body Shop fat pencil for pimples). I do have a lovely Clinique foundation for going out though.

I love Dior Iconic Curl mascara. It's the only one that will stay put on me. I like Lancome for liquid liner, as the applicator is easy to use. I have tried several of the pen type ones, but they seem to go dry very quickly, which is disappointing.

Good luck!

PS Nothing wrong with Rimmel! I still use their nail varnish and lipsticks. And Kohl eye liners for that matter!

Bourjois foundations and liquid concealer are great quality for the price. Stila do an excellent liquid eyeliner. MAC pencil eyeliners also good. It's worth investing in Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion as no shadow or liner budges if you've prepped with that baby. My new favourite high street mascara is Maybelline The Colossal lengthening.

I've got a child free hour or two tomorrow and will be visiting my local boots to see what's about and have a proper look (without a 2 year old grabbing everything and getting bored)! Lol

I may need to look at tutorials aswell and I pretty much slap everything on by hand and rub it in!

Defo need a makeover! Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Does your local Boots stock Nyx? I love their eyeliners, lipsticks and "lip lingerie", plus their eye shadow crayons. Not so impressed by the mascaras, and haven't tried the foundation. Concealer (waxy one, so more for spots than under eye) also pretty good. And not expensive!

What is your price range OP. For high end I love DiorSkin star foundation, it's creamy and thick but not heavy thick, IYSWIM??? It's moisturizing but lasts. I wear mine over primer as I live in a very hot country. If you are looking for mid price Bourjois are good and are highly regarded. If you find your foundation doesn't last I think you need a primer. I've used No7 stay perfect and Smashbox (clear one) both are good but I'm not sure if the No7 makes my skin sore. I favor Pen style concealers for dark circles but never use them on protruding bags or spits as they highlight not hide. So if it's dark and sunken like wrinkles or dark circles use it, if not use a normal concealer. I like high end eyeshadows as I love string pigment but I do also rate the Max Factor single in Burnt Bark. It's a lovely browny goldy metallic. L'Oréal do lovely lipsticks. Max Factor and No7 do good lip liners. Eye liners need to be soft. No7 are hard and shite. Rimmel do the best ones.

For blusher I like Max Factor cream puff blush or Mac but Chanel are my fav. Mascaras are quite personal but I love Benefit Roller lash over They're real primer. A real fantastic combo and They're real primer is great for lazy days as it has a lovely brown tone and really makes your lashes look amazing! Phew....you really got me going there OP. I love make up! Grin

Do you have a Space NK or a good department store? Nars creamy concealer is really good for covering dark circles. Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown are good for getting classics if you want a fresh start. Space NK staff generally are quite happy to try things on with you if you go in and say you fancy a change.
