I've been through hair dye hell of late. I will sum it up as thus: lovely blonde brunette natural colour. Got bored. Had highlights at lower ends (baylange?) and had a few bits of blonde dusted around front. Lovely. Uh oh bored again and also felt a bit washed out by the lighter colouring. So hello ash blonde hair dye box from supermarket and then hello grey ends. ArghConfused so then I went to have it rectified at the hairdressers. They went with a golden tone and re highlighted the ends. My. Poor. Hair. Olaplex has helped with condition. But now, 4 weeks on. Ash brown regrowth versus red brown colour. Dear god it's bad. Snap doesn't do full justice. I've massively cocked up.
Anywaaaaayyyyy I would like to know how and if this can be fixed? How do I lose the red? Can a hairdresser blend the colour through? As I said before the ends are light and they are actually a lovely colour. So at least I have that going for the positive. Sorry for the whopping long post just feeling a bit stressed about the whole thing!! In hope of advice Smile

Sorry no help at all but just wanted to say I actually really like the colour at the top

Aw thank you. The camera flash makes it looks jazzy but in real life it's a bit brassy esp compared to roots. Wonder I've not gone grey after anxiety hairdye boredom-fest x

You could ask for a light ash brown semi permanent dye at the hairdressers to blend the roots in. The ash colour will neutralise the red tones you currently have. Be very careful with brown home dyes, they come out extremely dark.

If your ends are very light, you may have to have them cut off or run the risk of them taking on a greenish hue with the ash brown.

I'm recommending a semi permanent because you say your hair is damaged, although from your pic I'd say I've seen far worse. Your hairdresser can assess the damage and decide if your hair can take a permanent dye.

I would stay away from lighter colours containing bleach to give your hair a break. If it is brittle or snapping, you need to overload it with moisture rather than protein (keratin) treatments. Look for anything containing argan oil or Moroccan oil, they will really help.

I recommend Philip Kingsley Elaticizer as a at home hair treatment.

Don't worry, your hair looks totally fixable Smile

Oh God I feel your pain. I had a similar disaster courtesy of a new hairdresser 2 days before I went on holiday. It was hideous. Think a top layer of orange candy floss hair instead of the subtle caramel lights I was promised.

ILost has given the advice I followed; I cut 2-3 inches off within 24 hours. Loads of leave-in conditioner - my hair would drink it. The Philip Kingsley stuff is fantastic for restoring condition.

Finally I found a fantastic hairdresser who restored much of the condition by using permanent colour on my (grey) roots, using the same colour in semi-permanent colour on the rest of my hair and a salon glossing treatment. I could have cried with gratitude when she sorted it out.

Thank you ladies! Some brilliant advice. Wish I could strip it all out but the colour strips seem to leave orange behind so that wouldn't help either.
I will get some elastizer on it tonight.
XSmile
