If you had £200 to buy a new winter coat where would you be looking?

Just that really, I have unexpectedly got paid some extra money and have decided to spend it on a new winter coat as mine is looking shabby. I would like something warm but smart. I have a good waterproof parka type, this would be replacing the one I wear if going out in the evening or to work when it's not pouring it down. Would love to either hear suggestions or just to see pictures of what you would get for yourself

Side. Bizarre!

Belleblush · 29/11/2016 20:49

Barbour - just bought one. Last year was Ted Baker x

Jaegar or Jaegar outlet definitely. Mine are on their third year and as good as new. Sizing is a little generous. If you're between sizes, size down

KanyesVest · 29/11/2016 22:38

My Jaeger coat is a 12 and spot on, I'd say.

BabyGanoush · 29/11/2016 22:41

Zara have a perfect navy wool coat (long)

Uhohmummy · 29/11/2016 23:00

Came on to say Cos as well! I bought a camel one there this season and love it.

I would wait on buying a coat from Jaeger outlet they will have an extra 30-50% off sale prices again soon. You just missed the Black Friday deals. I picked up a handbag for £37! and a couple of beautiful jumpers from £120 down to £40. I Also have a coat from £250 down to under £100.

Another jaeger outlet fan here
I have 3 coats this year (all jaeger)which I rotate depending on what else I'm wearing
Red, royal blue and a black and creamy white tweed

BillStickersIsInnocent · 30/11/2016 06:42

Jaeger outlet for sure - I bought a beautiful charcoal wool coat there recently, £140 reduced from £350 or something.

Sizing - comes up very big. I'm a 14 at the moment and don't like tight coats, got the size 12 and is very roomy.

I bought the Hobbs Fonda coat this year and bloody love it. So warm and it's down to my knees which really helps feel toasty.
It was £265 I think which is more than I've ever spent before but I was planning for it to last. If you can hold off you could hope quite a few go into the Jan sales?

Sukitakeitoff · 30/11/2016 06:47

Dickins & Jones? They're on sale at the moment though so you'd get quite a lot of change from £200.

Yy to Jaegar. The sizing is very generous - mine is a size below dress size but my top tip is to get a uniqlo microfleece which you can put underneath for if it gets really cold. Thin enough that it doesn't really spoil the line of the coat and it is like wearing a duvet outside. The coats are warm anyway, though.

TipTopTriceratops · 30/11/2016 07:28

A made to measure one from Sumissura.

squiz81 · 30/11/2016 08:06

I quite like that Laura a set one! High wool count and nice length I'm the leg. I'm tempted (I completely don't need new coat!)

That Jaeger wrap coat just feels a bit dressing gown-y to me

Oly5 · 30/11/2016 10:00

I have the Jaegar wrap coats and they're not dressing gowny (I don't think so anyway). I get loads of compliments on mine

SpringSpringSpring · 30/11/2016 18:40

I think I'll go to one of the outlets and try lots of Jaeger ones on - I'd never have thought of them so thank you all! Plan B will then be to wait until January sales
