I think good on them.

I agree with the statement, but I'd feel happier about it if the quality of everything I've bought from there hadn't been so poor.

I want to love Jigsaw, but I don't look there any more, because I know it will all fall apart Sad

AmeliaPeabody · 27/11/2016 09:08

I agree, project. Quality is not what it was.

JohnCheese · 27/11/2016 10:08

I remember they did the same last year. A heap of clever, appeal-to-the-middle-classes marketing. All sounds plausible and reasonable and so nice. But PollyPerky above has it spot on. At 70% off, they are still making a profit.

TSSDNCOP · 27/11/2016 10:25

Hmm I don't agree on quality, it is excellent. But you don't always want a coat for 16 years so £500 is a big upfront ask.

I I used to work in retail. Yes, we'd get a big bump on BF, but we'd also get many, many refunds dated BF throughout subsequent weekends in Dec. Lots of people do their November salary and then realise they've over-spent, lots grab the bargain on the day for choice knowing they can return it. Personally I think it's retail hell.

If Jigsaw don't want to participate, fair enough. But the statement was smugtastic and doesn't achieve much from me than Hmm

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/11/2016 10:36

It appeals to me because I'm always careful what I buy. I've had my share of mistakes when I was younger, things bought because I got carried away in the sales, I realised that was the real waste of money, not something bought full price.

Constant sales and codes, the way GAP for example operates now make me think of something cheap and throwaway.

I don't set out to buy a coat that will last 16 years, but if it does, then that's good in my books.

I don't agree that their clothes are designed to last - their knitwear shrinks and their t shirt lose their shape. Their statement was PR bullshit, they should have said nothing, rather than pretending to be a beacon for ethics when it suits them.

hooliodancer · 27/11/2016 12:08

I do think Jigsaw - on the whole- lasts.

I have things that are over 10 years old that I still wear.

The cut is much better too. I bought 2 dresses from Zara and the cut is rubbish really. A dress from Jigsaw is twice the price but looks it.

I don't think that there is a clothing company that doesn't make a massive profit is there?

AmeliaPeabody · 27/11/2016 14:56

The quality was definitely better over a decade ago.

I've had to return a bag and a couple of clothing items in very recent years because of quality issues. It's not somewhere I'd shop now.

Chippednailvarnishing · 27/11/2016 15:00

I was in the 24 apple store in New York on Friday night. It's open 24, they didn't give discounts just gift cards if you spent loads. Black Friday is a rip off, it's just a way of allowing higher prices at other times of the year.

rubybleu · 27/11/2016 15:11

Jigsaw do half their summer wear in cheap nasty viscose - dry clean only. The quality doesn't justify the full pricing.

BakeOffBiscuits · 27/11/2016 17:33

I too think the quality has gone down massively. I bought a beautiful jumper in the January sales but I wore it about 5 times and it bobbled dreadfully. It looks like something I bought in a jumble saleHmm.

I use it to wear over PJs now as its not good for anything else. That quality is just not good enough.
