What things are good to buy in USA?

I have not been to the USA for years, so wondered if people 'in the know' could enlighten me what would be good to buy there in terms of items which are much cheaper than the UK / or just not available in the UK /or online?

Thanks. DH is not coming with me Smile

What is the (nearest) uk equivalent of target? I've heard of it but can't quite get my head around what sort of shop it is.

Asda, really.

Just miles better for different bad for you groceries like salted caramel butter and giant bags of m and ms. Again be careful that you buy what you deffo cabt get there. I bought their crest whitening toothpaste that is too strong to buy here and im impressed with it.

Momentumista, I lived in the USA, near a big Target, and thought it was like a mixture of Boots, Matalan and BHS. It even stocked No 7 cosmetics and some Matalan brands. It's like a big supermarket, but the emphasis is on clothes and homewares rather than food.
Old Navy is good for cheap basics. I'm still wearing stuff from there.
Loft is also good for better stuff.
Even living there, I never found too many bargains, just different brands to here, like Victoria's Secret. Tastes are also more conservative than here in the UK. In fact I used to order up some clothes from the UK because the quality and design was more to my taste!

I usually go to Macey's or Nordstrom and stock up on well tailored wonen's suits. The quality you can get in the high end US stores is far far better than comparable shops in the UK.

I am in bostona at the moment and disapointed with the prices. Focusing on getting stuff i cant in the uk, melatonin sleeping tablets, neosporin oitment, aveeno eczema stuff, whitening strips, oh and grabbed a kindle at target for £30!!

If you need work gear, Calvin Klein suits are much cheaper and Ann Taylor do some great basics. If you go to Macys, look for a coupon for $$s off (they usually have some offer on). If you can bear to go to a TJ MAxx or MArshalls, brands like Ralph Lauren and Nautica make their way in there and are good prices. ditto brands like Vineyard Vines that (I don't think) you can get over in the UK.

I wouldn't bother with Old Navy if you have limited suitcase space, but if you can get to a Gap Outlet you can save a fortune

Candles and smellies from Bath and Body Works/white barn. Make good presents, give them a good sniff though as they can be rather pungent.

Second Sephora own brand make up - the liquid lipstick is amazing!!

No bargains due to exchange rate - that goes for cups of coffee, restaurant prices (add tax, then double the tax for tip) and definitely any clothes and make up. On a recent visit, DH bought a load of clothes because we got a 40% in store promotion. We picked a good card! He also likes Cole Hahn shoes which we don't see in the U.K. I buy stationery! It is just better there. Absolutely nothing is £:$ equal as it used to be. The exchange rate is around $1.20 to £1. We stocked up when it was $1.75 to £1 years ago. Big difference now and don't forget to add the sales tax - 7-10% typically. It is still fun to shop but buy what you cannot get here.

Sorry, late reply. Jersey Mills is very easy to get to! New Jersey Transit offers daily bus service from the Port Authority Bus Terminal via Bus #111 and #115

This is located in Times Square. Buses leave frequently and I think we paid less than $15 each return. Woodbury cost me about $40 return last time I went. Jersey Mills has a much better range of shops, restaurants and is all indoors which I prefer.
