Collagen supplements - bloody brilliant results!

Rosierose98 · 23/11/2016 23:09

Just wanted to share my results of recently starting collagen supplements, they are fantastic! I'm a sucker for any new face fad/ lotion/ potion & the other day collagen supplements appeared in my newsfeed on Facebook, anyhow I did some online research & decided to purchase ' Hydrolysed Collagen ' supplements [Edited by MNHQ]. To be fair I wasn't really expecting any major results but knowing that I'm getting on a bit I thought what have I got to loose ? A week later I noticed subtle skin improvements, facial skin looks plumper & more hydrated, my lips aren't as dry & they definitely look slightly more plump. I'm amazed! For any of you that are interested in anti - ageing, these supplements are well worth purchasing : )

I used these supplements for about a year. I wasn't sure that they were doing anything for my face but my nails became a lot stronger (absolutely no peeling or splitting) and they really grew. My nails have never looked so good. My hair benefited too. I then stopped them for a few weeks and I realised that they had made a difference to my face as well. I am now back on them.

Well Rosierose you have just helped me make my mind up to purchase some.
I cut out an article of products to help with ageing ages ago from The Times and this was mentioned amongst other things. Just this morning I stood in front of a shelf fulll of different varieties (all more expensive than yours- think high end whole food shop) wondering should I try some but couldn't make up my mind (was actually in looking for probiotic supplements) so didn't buy.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Just make bone broth. Go to your local butcher and purchase chicken feet, pig trotters, necks, joints, etc and simmer for 24 hours making a broth.
I just did it actually, and I've noticed big improvements in my skin. I've also read they've recently discovered the collagen does survive the digestive acids and help skin/nails/joints

No reason to go expensive though when ppl have been making bone broth for millennias

Bloomed · 16/11/2017 16:40

I'm interested in this for joint health.

quirkychick · 16/11/2017 16:45

I use collagen supplements, I think it's great for skin, hair, joints too.

I also eat lots of veg, oily fish, nuts etc. and drink bone broth. I think what you put in your body has a great effect on your skin, more so than what you put in it.

Bloomed - before I started taking collagen I had a problem with my knees when I was running. I haven't had any problems since I started taking the collagen. I didn't see immediate results it took a few weeks.

Bloomed · 16/11/2017 17:40

Thanks thiscant I'll give it a go. Which do you take?

Thiscantreallybehappening · 16/11/2017 18:01

Bloomed - I take the H&B hydrolysed Collagen. They are usually included in their penny sale or half price offers.

Bloomed · 16/11/2017 18:24

Will order them know and report back!

Thiscantreallybehappening · 16/11/2017 18:35

Hope you get on well with them Smile

Bloomed · 16/11/2017 18:38

So do I. My typing skills might improve Grin

I had a hysterectomy last August, my hair fell out and my menopause really kicked in. I took Absolute Collagen as my joints were so painful, especially in my hands. They looked so old and the joints were swollen, I didn’t expect results and thought it was too expensive for me to keep up, well, almost immediately the flushes and joint pain stopped. I’m only on week 3 and still not one day or night flush?? Growing nails, hands smooth and new hair pinging through all over the place, my fine hair seems more manageable too with a bit of shine?? I also have poor skin tone and Sunday didn’t wear foundation, I never go without even if in the house all day.. I am going without other treats to pay for this, it is so worth it for me. I’m 56 and very sceptical about things like this, I keep waiting for my old self to come back but each day it feels better.. 3 weeks only and can highly recommend.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 18/02/2020 11:51

Cheap sausages contain masses of collagen, masses (eg Frankfurters etc contain loads of hydrolysed collagen)

But not sure it goes to your epidermis to plump it up Grin

Delatron · 18/02/2020 12:59

I take Absolute Collagen. Started Retin A at the same time so can’t work out which has had what effect. Hair seems in better condition though.

Lily193 · 19/02/2020 07:46

Bexpurlz

The product referred to in that article is considered not to have demonstrated an effect in humans:

So how does this comment help anyone? Sure people who know you find you very funny

princessTiasmum · 19/02/2020 23:45

Sounds interesting ,thinking mainly about my hair
Where do you get absolute collagen from,?
Is that the actual name of it?
I searched Amazon, but it just came up with lots of different ones
Thanks

LellyMcKelly · 20/02/2020 00:50

i get my collagen from Haribos - gelatin is the best source of collagen. £1 a week on a Friday night! (Look it up if you don’t believe me)

Delatron · 20/02/2020 07:37

I think you can only buy Absolute Collagen direct from their website. It’s on a monthly subscription. It’s expensive but you can cancel or pause at any time.

princessTiasmum · 20/02/2020 10:58

Thank you, i will search more
It used to be said that having a jelly cube each day was same as collagen, i will have a google and see if this is still the case
After all it's gelatin ,isn't it

RainRainGoAway2020 · 08/03/2020 11:35

It would take months and months for something you ingest to have any effect on your hair surely?!

Gwenhwyfar · 08/03/2020 11:59

I used some expensive, name brand ones for 6 months. No improvement in skin, hair or nails. I did notice my bones/joints were less creaky - but I'm in my 30s so it wasn't that bad to begin with.
