I have been having a sort out of my clothes, and lots of my skirts and trousers don't fit me any more. I reckon I have put on about 5lbs and must have gone up a dress size. I am 5' 4". Is that about right?

No way it can be 5lb a dress size I'm a size 10 and by that reckoning id be a size 18 if I put a stone and a half on !!!

Sizing is random and non standard. Question cannot be answered.

Women have to put up with this because it is assumed we all love spending hours in smelly overheated shops when we need clothes.

I've lost 5st and dropped 6 dress sizes. That works out around 11.5lbs per dress size but I'm sure that's not accurate.

I lost 4 stone and went down 3 dress sizes at 5'3' - size 22 to size 16. I have gone back up about half a stone recently and am still in the same size clothes so I can't see that 5lbs would take you completely out of a dress size tbh.

For me it's 5 kilos to move down half a dress size.

If I put on 10 to 14lbs I'm up a dress size, I'm 5 10 and the weight hits my tummy and boobs.
