Leggings - where to get the best ones?

I'm bored of wearing jeans and waist length tops all the time so thought I'd give leggings and long layers a go. Plus, I've just had gynae surgery and my tummy is still a bit swollen.

I read the Boden leggings reviews when I was shopping the other day and popped some in my basket. I've worn them today and despite going a size up for comfort (wear a 14 so got a 16), I could see my skin though them on my thighs sitting down and they've bobbled at the crotch. Nice and soft though, but not what I expected. They seem more like 90 denier tights.

So where should I be looking for good quality leggings or should o just stick with jeans? Thanks.

I have just bought aome navy cord lwggings from Sainsbury's. They are v comfy, generously sized and £14 I think. They are thick too.

Previously I have bought thicker black leggings with a nice texture from Miss Selfridge and Tesco. I've had them for 5 years now.

M&S for thermal leggings, really comfy and warm, about 16 or 18 pounds.

IamNotDarling · 20/11/2016 19:17

I like the sound of thermal ones!

They're expensive but French Connection usually do nice thick leggings that you don't have to worry about going see-through.

Thatwaslulu · 20/11/2016 19:20

Matalan. They are fab and really cheap, but don't go see through.

Statelychangers · 20/11/2016 19:29

Gapfit cotton leggings are brilliant - flat seamed and with the 40% discount floating around, they are very good value.

IamNotDarling · 20/11/2016 20:16

Love the suggestions, thank you!

Leggings for children rarely go see though, I wonder why adult leggings do? Hmm

Their legs are skinnier than mine Grin

I have Next ponte leggings £18. They are thick and warm and not bobbled yet. Nice and comfy and don't fall down like some cheaper leggings. Definitely not see-thru.

Seasalt sea legs leggings are the ones I wear. I like them.

Primark also have fleece lined leggings.

As opaque as it gets and so toasty!

JustSpeakSense · 20/11/2016 23:22

Next, they are fab. I find primark leggings are see through.

Piglet208 · 20/11/2016 23:36

Another vote for the Next Ponte leggings. They are really dense and not see through at all.

GinAndPhonics · 20/11/2016 23:42

Mint Velvet. Read about them on here a few weeks ago and they're the best I've ever found. Nice and thick but also super stretchy. They also have a panel that pulls your tummy in slightly. And only £15!

ColdCottage · 21/11/2016 00:01

I buy mine from decathlon. £3.50 a pair, thicker as meant for exercise.

They have a tiny logo in the same colour as the leggings very near the top so never seen (unless you are one of those odd people who wear leggings with tops that don't at least cover your bum #wholeotherthread).

I've got them in black, blue, grey, pink (just for Pilates) and a dark plum colour.

I love the sainsburys modal luxury leggings, they're £10 a pair, have a deeper waistband which is fab for any bloating/sore stomach issues and are thick, last forever, washing well with no bobbling.
