Winter coats for pear shapes

Just that really. I always struggle to find winter coats that fit me top and bottom (size 8 top, 10-12 bottom). I'm looking for a warm, waterproof parka for school runs/outdoors. I tried on a couple of north face parkas and they either swamp me up top or I can't comfortably zip them over my generous bottom. The Scandinavian brands all look to be cut quite narrow on the hips- are there any exceptions?

I am also looking for a formal wool coat but these are a bit easier to find (although I eagerly wait for the fashion for all things androgynous to bugger off 😬).

There is a Scandinavian exception - Danefae, they are A-line. Their Else winter coat is my longtime favorite, warm, light and waterproof.

The website is pretty messy - if you like bright color, there are some reduced coats in their outlet section, but finding them is really hard work. Sizing is regular / true to size. I got a Danefae coat about five years ago (as did many of my mum friends) and it is still in great shape and my favorite coat on wet days. The winter coat has light padding: if you need a lighter one, the midseason ones are worth a looks.

How about an a line ? I'm an hourglass and although I have big boobs my rib cage is much smaller than my bum so it works well.. I bought a lovely one from Zara yesterday .

I like a-line, there just isn't much around at the moment! Must have a look in Zara, I've had some great coats from there in the past. They cut them quite narrow on the shoulders, which I need.

Seasalt coats are cut fairly generously about the hips.

The problem with sea salt is that they're also cut generously around the bust, whichever is not use for my feeble chest!

Ive ordered a couple of Danefæ ones- fingers crossed one of them fits fits! They were quite bargainous

Ah right, yeah, I am reasonably be-norked as well as very sturdy of hip so they fit fine on me. Intrigued to hear about how the Danefae ones go, they look lovely.

I basically need clothes made for weebles

Happy rainy days are good for hips - I have a couple from there.

Nothing at all helpful to add, just solidarity! I'm large of arse and am really struggling to find a coat this year - the straight up and down car/boyfriend styles that are everywhere are useless - if it fits round the bottom it is hugely baggy round the top.

I have an Evans parka from their Pear range that's about 3 years old but try as I might I can't find a smart wool coat for work

Yeah, mannish tailoring is definitely not for me! Look like an arse in a tube

Update: the danafae coats arrived and I loved them! So light but warm. Very roomy on the arse 😆Kept a grey winter raincoat that flares from the waist. Was only about £60 too! That's a good return if it lasts a few years.
