Am I old? Am I deluded?

Is this really the latest thing?

I'm thinking how cosy it would be on a winter night out. You wouldn't even have to wax your legs.

I'd have loved it when I was 20.

P1nkP0ppy · 11/11/2016 19:58

They're taking the p.ss aren't they?
I thought for a moment it was fancy dress 'Come dressed as a Fondant Fancy' utterly grim.
☹️

SerialBodenReturner · 11/11/2016 19:59

This is the sort of thing that appears on those Facebook clothes shops.

Someone posted a khaki thing like this on a local FB page recently and everyone was cooing over it.... Confused

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 11/11/2016 20:15

It's all about pairing it with the right accessories I think.

Wearing it underneath a full length buttoned up overcoat with a bag over your head in the dark might work.

LockedOutOfMN · 11/11/2016 20:25

Does anyone watch the US TV comedy "The Goldbergs"? This looks like something the mum would wear. It's set in the 1980s/early 1990s.

PoppyPicklesPenguin · 11/11/2016 20:58

Your so right lockedout

The perfect outfit to carry out some (s)mothering

DancingHouse · 11/11/2016 21:01

Is it a lampshade or a dust ruffle wrapped around its shoulders?

PitilessYank · 11/11/2016 21:03

It's a world gone mad...

Brexit
Trump
Dusty Pink Jumpsuit

What is next?

CountFosco · 11/11/2016 21:08

Individually those two items might be OK on the right 18 year old. I'm reminded of the kind of outfits I lusted over in the 1980s. I really wanted a dress with one of those ruffles round the shoulders. But they must be cool because even Cos has a frill sleeved jumper (admittedly in a much more tasteful merino).

catinbooots · 11/11/2016 23:50

I will return tomorrow for a second look so I can shame name the store.

LockedOut this is sooo Bevvy Goldberg. Now that has made me see it in a different light. I love Bevvy Goldberg.

Its pyjamas, and the valance is for a bit of extra warmth when you're sat up in bed MNing reading. Grin

KickAssAngel · 12/11/2016 00:34

At least if you drop any crumbs you can have a snack later as they'll be lurking in the frills.

catinbooots · 12/11/2016 01:04

Oh and just for the record - I'm in the suburbs of South London. Generally a fairly hip area.

SirChenjin · 12/11/2016 13:22

Me too cat - love The Goldbergs, Bevvy especially Grin

catinbooots · 12/11/2016 16:26

I was back at the shops today.

Sadly - it's an independent store so you far-flung MNers would have to travel a long way to get your greasy mitts on this baby.

The name of said store?

FASHION WORLD

OP posts:
LockedOutOfMN · 12/11/2016 18:09

Fashion World sounds like exactly the kind of place I spent my pocket money as a 13 year old. And actually my first proper job pay packets as a 21 year old. Blush

Ruffles are in, I've seen a few nice ones (in photos, with models, and styling and stuff, not on actual people trying to go to the supermarket and get on buses and walk while Whatsapping and live their lives), and many disasters.

I would jump at the chance to dress like the amazing Beverly Goldberg, but my hair doesn't have anything like the required volume.

leaveittothediva · 12/11/2016 18:15

I know the crushed velvet is back. But that picture is just awful. I saw a pink jumper today with a frill all around the bust and continuing around the back. I swear to God if your boobs were anyway big, you wouldn't get through a door. Ridiculous. £50. If you don't mind, to look like your in a mariachi band.

KickAssAngel · 12/11/2016 21:47

This looks nice and cosy.
