fox fur trim cruelty??

SuperFlyHigh · 10/11/2016 12:10

want to ask a question - sounds a bit stupid but...

friend owns a company making jackets with fur trims - one I want has fox fur trim... I'm an animal lover and so is my mum...

I sound so stupid asking this.... but am I hiding my head in the sand by denying the cruelty?

It is not like I have any other animal products apart from leather

thanks

MrsJayy actually I am in a quandry because before I've asked this friend about will she do fake fur and she said yes. She does fake fur linings on a couple of jackets. Then I said i wouldn't buy if it weren't fake that was about 1-2 years ago. My other quandry is I expressed an interest in these jackets when they were released at LFW last month. I don't want to mess her about by ordering and then not esp as her business was hit hard by Brexit.

I have to admit this jacket is unique which I why i wanted it and posted in s&b.

But don't tell me I'm not an animal lover because you do not know me in real life! Angry

I wouldn't be knowingly giving any of my money to someone who deals in fur. In fact I couldn't bear to even look at a person like that.
And fur is not a by product. Ever.
You can't call yourself an animal lover and wear real fur knowing the horrendous cruelty involved. You just can't.

watch this. It's one minute long.

no fur is good

Ginger i don't wear real fur a few years ago I had a jacket from Zara that could have had rabbit trim and I immediately ebayed it.

Dulcimena · 11/11/2016 10:23

I don't understand that you ebayed a jacket because it may have had fur on it, but you are thinking of buying another? Anyway, fur is not my bag. Whether it is yours or not is between you and your conscience.

taraqei · 11/11/2016 10:25

I used to make something that had a rabbit fur trim. I was repeatedly told it was a by product etc etc but then found out that rabbit fur trim and rabbit meat come from two different types of rabbit. I never use real fur now. I agree with the PP that Helen Moore does the most amazing fake fur and all made in england.

sleepachu · 11/11/2016 14:08

Can't you just, like, not have the jacket? If you have £400 to drop on a jacket then you could buy an amazing jacket with no quandary at all.

SuperFlyHigh · 11/11/2016 14:10

sleepachu I am not having the jacket now!

you can buy it without the fur trim. I may buy it that way.

Dulcimena I have no idea about fox fur (which the trim on this jacket is) and where it comes from.

whenever I watch PETA videos they upset me. It can be hard to source where the fur comes from eg fox in this instance. My friend may or may not tell me.

I have signed campaigns to save animals and campaigned against Zara using angora rabbit fur in their jumpers.

I am NOT buying this fur jacket!

OP I've got to be honest but you don't sound sincere at all, I would never wear fur, I know this for a fact, I wouldn't order a fox fur trimmed coat then go on mumsnet to ask if it's cruelty? It's the skin of an animal bred to be skinned! It's not rocket science is it?

Vinorosso74 · 11/11/2016 19:57

Yes of course it is animal cruelty. I like a bit of faux fur but detest real fur and see no reason for animal fur to be used on any item of clothing we decorate ourselves with.

JustSpeakSense · 11/11/2016 20:26

Wearing by fur of any kind supports a cruel and sadistic industry.

Such a disgusting industry.

SuperFlyHigh · 11/11/2016 21:22

Buster if you read my original post I said I was not sure of the methods used re animal fur. I admit I was a bit naive in how they were killed for their fur. Now several people on this thread have enlightened me and as another poster said she didn't realise how barbaric it was until she researched it herself. If a rabbit was killed for food and the same rabbit had the fur used as a trim I'd be happier but as far as I know that doesn't happen nor with fox fur, if it was more humane too but it isn't. I was fooling myself to think otherwise I hold my hands up!

I also said I didn't want to mess my friend around as I'd told her I was interested in the jacket. She has had a very rough time since Brexit and though I don't like her jackets due to the real fur trim that doesn't mean I don't wish her business well and if she did fake fur trim I would probably buy one.

I also didn't order the jacket, I said I was thinking of ordering one but didn't want to mess her around.

Please do not cast aspersions on my sincerity when you do not know me in real life however.

What ever you say Superfly.

Gingersstuff · 14/11/2016 23:43

So you'd still support her business OP, even though you now realise exactly what's involved with harvesting fur, and you'd be ok giving money to someone who deals in cruelty like that? I couldn't be friends with someone who makes money from such a practice, let alone actively support her by buying any of her clothing.
