So, Uniqlo...

I wish I'd found them sooner! I always assumed it was just sporty or thermal stuff but I just got (online order) some ankle length trousers for work along with a few lovely blouses and they are all great, nice fit and well made. Anyone else buy from there and recommend stuff?

I think we have to judge Uniqlo's stuff bt taking into consideration the price. For the price, Uniqlo is good stuff.

shins · 07/11/2016 08:12

(The Japanese aesthetic suits me as I'm small and boyish-shaped)

Statelychangers · 07/11/2016 08:49

The cashmere bobbles to begin with but settles down after a couple of defuzzes.

Floisme · 07/11/2016 09:15

Mine didn't - When I used one of those combs, I just uncovered another layer of fuzz. It's possibly the worst cashmere I've ever bought and was one of the reasons I vowed (not entirely successfully) to stay away from the cheap stuff.

But I agree with AteRiri's point that on the whole, they're good for the price. What you don't get - as with many brands - is decent quality control which makes them unpredicatable.

myyoyo · 07/11/2016 10:24

Yes my Ines wool coat from last Winter didn't wear particularly well, but it was a bargainous steal in the sale and I've already had quite a few compliments on it this year funnily enough.
I've ordered a lightweight down for this year. Here's hoping it looks as good as the reviews suggest.

myyoyo · 07/11/2016 10:25

I always order online and I have never had any problems with either orders or returns.

CaitAgusMadra · 07/11/2016 10:50

Has anyone got the kids padded coats? I am tempted but they are hand wash only. This will not work for my mucky 4 year old. Has anyone tried machine washing them...

Statelychangers · 07/11/2016 15:03

And the ultra light down coats are great for secondary school kids who get cold on the way to school but don't want to carry a coat around all day - it crushed down to next to nothing.

clippityclop · 07/11/2016 16:01

Love Uniqlo, especially the coats and cotton/silk cashmere knitwear. I'm 5. 1" and find the proportions great. Never had any problems with bobbling/felting either. I bought a couple of the Liberty summer dresses with the built in bra after reading about them on here, fantastic.

OCSockOrphanage · 07/11/2016 16:16

Nothing to touch their Henley long sleeved T shirts, at any price. I own them in about eight colours. Wash and tumble or line dry beautifully, wear really well, and the seams don't twist.

OCSockOrphanage · 07/11/2016 16:17

And DS prefers their jeans to Levis and Superdry, at about half the price.

Notcontent · 07/11/2016 16:20

I love their stuff as well. It's great for basics and I wear their heattech tops nearly every day - great for layering under dresses, etc. Ok, so their stuff is a bit boring - but for me that's the appeal of it.

Littlelondoner · 10/11/2016 07:50

I love their heat tech things and the ines lines.

I find their plain jersey dressand silky shirt dresses fab to wear under a more fancy jacket or boots. Something plain to not distract from statement pieces.

HamSandwichKiller · 10/11/2016 07:54

So good for basics. Every London trip involves High St Kensington and an Uniqlo binge. Joy.

taybert · 10/11/2016 08:02

I got a cashmere jumper on special offer and so far it's really nice but we'll see when I've washed a few times. I've had a couple of the silk touch things that haven't worn that well.
Well impressed with the merino though and my workwear staples include their jersey cardigan jackets (please bring them back in summer!) and a couple of pencil skirts I got for less than a fiver each in the sale. I'm currently awaiting a delivery of long sleeved t shirts.

mayhew · 10/11/2016 08:13

I was in their Tokyo flagship yesterday (stealth boast?) selected two items (black wide leg jersey trousers and black felted long flared skirt) and then ordered online to my Uk address. This makes me happy.

banivani · 10/11/2016 08:28

After everyone lauding them here I made a point of visiting a shop this summer when I was abroad, but I wasn't too impressed. Fabrics felt thin and cheap (which they are, granted 😁). I had an idea of buying a cardigan or two but ended up skipping it.

I went in their Oxford Street branch yesterday and spent £90 in the U sale. I haven't bought clothes for years and had lined up £133 worth of things from M&S. M&S clothes were awful fabrics and cuts so I we t to Uniqlo- perfect.

I switched to Uniqlo as their cashmere and merino jumpers wash perfectly, unlike Marks'- stoopid for going back.

I'm slimish with a long body and short chunky legs, not a pear shape. I wonder if the cuts suit me better as I'm more a Japanese physic?

Lots of hideous stuff in uniqlo and sizing is odd but I'd say 90% of my clothes are from there. They do kids clothes too, basic, hard wearing things.

I work in a fashion related industry ...

indieblack · 10/11/2016 13:36

Another Uniqlo lover here. Knitwear and jeans are great quality esp. given the price and their kidswear is good quality and cheap in the sales. DH rates the jackets, jeans and graphic T-shirts. The fitted dresses and trousers can be too narrow for pear shapes but would recommend pretty much everything else.

AlexaTwoAtT · 10/11/2016 13:55

Have a light down coat in navy and it looks great. Has got a really nice semi-fitted shape. Hood too - which I choose not to use.
Always buy merino wool cardigans there in classic colours: black, grey, navy. Their cotton and cashmere knits are good in summer, too... When OH was in Hongkong in the autumn he brought back two mid length navy and black jersey tyke skirts with an A line shape. Really shapely and attractive.
OH likes their plaid shirts and cotton button-down ones - for himself.

myyoyo · 10/11/2016 17:16

I'm keeping my light down coat. I ordered a navy and a black and I'm keeping the black.
I'd been eyeing up a North Face parka, but everyone seems to be wearing North face at the moment! It's the new Superdry.

VeryPunny · 10/11/2016 17:22

Got some nice stuff in the Liberty collection last year but I can't bring myself to buy any of their wool, the colours are just too drab.
