If you are a 30-something yr old woman would you consider this skirt ridiculous?

I've attached a pic. I intend to wear it with oversized jumpers and boots - to work. Would I look awful. Size 8/10. I work in comms/marketing so we have many 'creatives' in the office but then again I don't know.

It looks great! Especially how you say that you would wear it. Congratulations on getting sober!! (Doesn't mean great mini skirts are off limits)

TheWayYouLookTonight · 04/11/2016 23:45

I don't think age and size are hugely relevant to your question. I can't say if it's a good idea as I don't know what is acceptable for your work environment. That length skirt isn't very appropriate where I work, whatever you style it with, but I don't work in a creative industry and besides, everywhere is different.

glasshalfsomething · 04/11/2016 23:50

Looks great - and as long as all the other materials are matte and muted, think it will look fine if you're in a creative team/laid back dress code space.

BusterGonad · 05/11/2016 05:49

Only you really know the answer to this, I would wear it at my work as its very relaxed and I'm sure some of the staff would love it! Lol. But if I worked in a bank or school then no I wouldn't wear it. And figure wise I think you need curves to wear it, so not really skinny or really fat.

CoconutAmericano · 05/11/2016 07:30

Absolutely not for work

AuntieStella · 05/11/2016 07:46

I wear skirts that length, and am in my 50s. At this time of year, with thick tights.

I'm not sure age is important anyhow, but certainly not an issue when as young as OP.

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2016 07:50

They say dress for the job you want not the job you have. In the jobs you want to move up to, would those people wear it, assuming any females in the roles? If the answer is yes, then go for it, if the answer is no, then don't.

pasturesgreen · 05/11/2016 08:11

For work, just no, regardless of how old you are. Bridget Jones and the skirt off sick comments spring to mind.

For a night out clubbing with friends? Go ahead, if you have the legs!

manandbeast · 05/11/2016 08:49

I work in a creative environment and am 36. No one would bat even the tiniest eyelid At this outfit styled how you plan. Seriously!!

BusterGonad · 05/11/2016 09:57

Get the skirt. Life's too short to be boring Grin

Ohyesiam · 05/11/2016 11:02

Sounds great with his you want to style it.

BusterGonad · 05/11/2016 11:08

Buy it and show us a picture OP all styled up!

Rafeontherun · 05/11/2016 11:11

I love it and think the way you want to style it is perfect

Floisme · 05/11/2016 13:03

Legs normally don't stay good forever and I'm all for showing them off as much as you can, while you can. I don't like the way the skirt is styled in the pic but your ideas sound a lot better.

I don't think any of us can comment on whether it's appropriate for your work - only you know that. No-one would turn a hair in my current workplace but in my previous job, someone might have had a word: pretty much same job but very different culture.

SugarNspiceNallThingsNice · 05/11/2016 13:08

I think it's unsuitable for work. Ok for a night out maybe.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/11/2016 13:54

It looks cheap and tarty imo. Ok for a night out but no no no.for work.

Trills · 05/11/2016 14:12

I don't like it at all.

But if I understand the place you work correctly, I wouldn't say it was inappropriate.

So if YOU like it, then you should wear it.

Thurlow · 05/11/2016 14:21

Short skirts, thick tights, flat boots and a shirt or jumper is a good casual look. Generally one I wear most of the time.

But not for work, IMHO

BadToTheBone · 05/11/2016 14:24

I'm not in my 30's, very nearly 50's, but I'm in marketing and you'd look fine in that skirt, cover your legs and a jumper, perfectly ok.

LaBrujita · 05/11/2016 16:01

I dislike the colour - it looks cheap, like a sort of coral or washed out red? I agree with the others that shiny plastic-looking leathery minis aren't very workplaceish if you want to be taken seriously. Even a more neutral colour would be better.
