A one-step foundation powder...?

Is there such a thing? I rarely wear make-up, but could probably do with putting something on on a daily basis. I really don't have time to do much in the mornings, and would preferably have something I can throw on at my desk without needing too much looking in the mirror.

Any suggestions? Am actually going to a city next week so can pop into Debenhams / Boots and speak to someone.

There are loads. Mac Studio Fix powder takes about 10 seconds. Most brands have a powder foundation.

And some, like the L'oreal True Match powder aren't marketed as foundation but have such good coverage that they may as well be.

But whatever you buy, ditch the sponge and buy a retractable kabuki brush or similar. They really need a brush.

I use a L'Oréal one called true match minerals. I love it and it's so quick and clean to apply. I'm not sure it suits everyone though as my friend saw me using it and then bought some herself as she liked how it looked. She ended up hating it on her own skin and gave it to me.

I also like bare minerals but it isn't one step.

I use Mac studio fix compact for such days. It's very quick, good coverage and easy to top up as needed. Would recommend.

I love the max factor facefinity powder foundation. Tempted to try the mac one though.

How about bare minerals, its a powder that comes with a brush but you wouldn't need a mirror, it's very natural looking in my opinion

I've got the Barbara Daly one from Tesco. It was about £5. I use it when I am pushed for time. I found mineral type powder foundation just didn't give me enough coverage.

Laura geller balance and brighten, foolproof and no faffing. There's a tsv on QVC on Sunday, and you can try it for 30 days then send it back if you don't like it

I use Max Factor Creme Puff. Sure I smell like my nan but it makes my skin look amazing.

Definitely mac studio fix

Would mac studio fix be good for dry skin? I tried mac once but it looked yellow on me, I'm very fair with a very red face! Everything seems to stick to my dry skin apart from bare minerals it seems to mask the redness but would like to try something different

No, the Studio Fix would probably be too drying on dry skin IMO.

But I suspect most powder foundation would be.

You could try NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat maybe. It's less thick.

Can't find a single one that gives as good a finish as foundation and powder individually and although I have combination skin the vast majority are far to drying.

I'm currently using the Lancôme face cushion which is a liquid foundation in a compact applied with a sponge. It is very good.

Boots No 7 compact foundation is really good. And I've had various Clinique compact foundations over the years, which have been good too. However the Boots compact is just as good as Clinique, but quite a bit cheaper!

I've wasted a small fortune over the years either getting the wrong formula or colour. It's very hit and miss.

I've tried loads, expensive ones and cheaper ones, and the one I go back to time and time again is Max Factor Facefinity. It's about a tenner and it's brilliant. Great coverage, doesn't go all powdery and clumpy looking like some of them do (Mac, I'm looking at you!) and the sponge it comes with actually does a decent job. Highly recommended
