Would you try a liquid one?

brimfull · 11/02/2007 20:38

have never tried liquid eyeliner, assumed at 44 I'm too old for it.May try dd's and see if I look ridiculous or not.

dunno, but the no. 7 pencil stuff is pants, IMO.

fishie · 11/02/2007 20:46

not tried pencil yet, but pass shop later this week, might have a go. i am 38 and have no fear of liquid (although lately i do have to keep eyebrows raised while it dries - me putting on eyeliner)

Read an article in Good Housekeeping about makeup in your 40's and Bobbi Brown recommends oldies like me to define our eyes more.Tries it and it did look good but ended up all over the place, think it was a cheap one.

Clinique and Lancome do v good eyeliners. Have heard that Urban Decay ones are good too but haven't tried them personally.

twoisenoughmum · 11/02/2007 20:56

ggirl - (I'm 44 too, birthday in September, am I older or younger?) - do you wear it on the top lid or bottom lid? I believe past a certain age, best not to wear it on both. Also, small eyes don't look good completely circled in eyeliner, as closes them up. If you have long, almond shaped eyes, try the top lid. Always best to use liquid. If you have rounder shaped eyes, do it on the bottom, slightly thicker at the outer edge. Use a pencil, and put slightly more than you think you need on, then gently smudge some of it off with a cotton bud. My pencils from Beauty Without Cruelty don't seem to be too smudgy, if I do it like that.

brimfull · 11/02/2007 20:59

b'day in june so you're younger

I have largeish eyes, don't really know the shape, sort of eye shape really .
I'll experiment with the top and bottom lids I think.

Probably ggirl but sounds like a good excuse for a shopping trip! twoisenoughmum - do Beauty Without Cruelty still exist? I used to love their stuff as a teenager but had no idea they were still around. They used to have lovely baby blue packaging if I remeber rightly and were sold in health food shops?

fishie · 11/02/2007 21:11

their mascara was fab too.

southeastastra · 11/02/2007 21:13

you could try eyeshadow as it'll look softer, or put shadow on top of the liner to set it

brimfull · 11/02/2007 21:18

yes southeastra,I keep meaning to buy a blackish eyeshadow to try that.I tried it with brown but brown eyeliner makes my eyes look red.
