Going grey at 39.5?

I've been fighting a losing battle against the silver hairs for at least 5 years now - applying a chestnut brown colour at home every 4-5 weeks. I already have a short, funky haircut and I am seriously considering going grey to stop having to cover them up all the time.

My question is though, will it age me?

Have any of you gone grey before you were 40??

I'm only a bit grey so far, but feeling pressure to dye because almost every other woman my age does!

I've been going grey since 17, now I'm 37 I'm almost completely grey (or would be without hair dye). It's genetic for me - my mother had a white streak as a child that then spread so she was completely white by her mid 20s. How about your mum, grandmother etc? How do/did they look with grey hair? I think it ages me but then I colour the hell out of it (it's currently pink) so regrowth looks unpleasant on me.

Grey is so fashionable at the moment. If ever there was a time to embrace the grey it's now.

Grey hair can look fantastic, but IMO, yes - at 39 - it will age you.

You could get some grey and blonde streaks put in if you have money to throw away at the hairdressers! .That would mean any root regrowth would be much less noticeable? I think that would look great and would be easier than spending months with grey roots trying to grow out the brown.

I think it is aging definitely. I'm in the same position. As you have short hair, why not try a platinum blonde? Give it another 10 years...

I've been going grey since my mid twenties. At first I used Harmony (in the triangular boxes), then I Lush hennaed for years, finally got fed up at 40 (now 47) and it's been grey ever since, it's shoulder length, still brown at the back. I often get complemented on it and don't think it ages me, makes my eyes look very blue. Occasionally, I streak it with pale blue and lilac, but I have been toying with the idea of going blonde.

Anyone that says it isn't ageing is deluded.

It can look nice but I couldn't go grey at 39! (I have masses of grey too)
