Boden to stop larger sizes 😱

I read on a French plus size blog that Boden is going to stop selling larger sizes. The blogger doesn't say what they consider "larger" sizes but she mentions she very often sees 20/22 sold out. Her source is a "rep" for the brand but as she's been promoting Boden in France for quite some time I tend to trust her.

I've been wearing Boden for ever now from size 12 to 20 and I would be absolutely gutted if they were doing that.

What do you think?

It's a possibility that that don't make as many garments in the larger sizes, they get snapped up quick, therefore appear sold out quicker.

Jaeger have a new line which I think is to replace 'Boutique'
It's called Laboratory. I've had a couple of pieces in the sale and they're great quality with a bit of design edge.

I'm sure it's a business decision......but.......this will be controversial

I've been a 20-22
I'm now a 16-18 and falling

The impetus to lose weight was partly not being able to buy nice clothes i the shops

Size 22 would be a BMI 35-40 i.e. dangerously obese and the normalisation of morbid obesity is probably the biggest health crisis facing this country

Whilst I'm sure Boden don't give a damn about public health, making it harder to find clothes in dangerously obese sizes could be considered to be a sensible public health intervention.

I wasn't going to bite, lunchbox, because I assumed you were being sarcastic, but honestly, I'm not sure that you are. I'm afraid I couldn't disagree with you more. While the cause of obesity MAY be reduced to a simple equation of calories in > calories out, the reasons for this are complex and multifaceted, and can be both psychological, physical or simple choice. To body shame people by saying they are in some way not worthy of nice clothes adds to the problem, rather than ameliorating it.

And, while it's not relevant to the argument, I can assure you that a size 22 doesn't necessarily put you in the 35-40 BMI category. Although I'm an above average height for a woman, I'm certainly not unusually tall, and at a size 18-22 I'm not near that category.

I'm not being sarcastic. I'm a HCP and I regularly see patients with morbid obesity who don't think they are particularly overweight. Normalisation of obesity is a disaster for public health and the vast majority of people can lose weight.

now the Boden models skew younger and thinner and are pictured walking down city streets or in posh pavement cafes Boden going trendy is about as promising as Peacocks going upmarket. I can't recall such a drastic change in demographics ever working. Boden have such a stubborn middle aged mum image.
