Are these the dreaded mum boot??

Honestly can't decide myself! I might return them anyway as they are a bit wide at the ankle but I thought I'd see what the MN jury thinks too.

I don't like them but if you decide that you do then you should keep them

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/10/2016 14:21

I don't love them, but if you are a mum and wearing boots, then, inevitably, they will be mum boots. Otherwise the phrase is completely meaningless. They look like sensible boots that you could wear to work and feel comfortable in. If that's what you want, and you like these, then you should buy them regardless of what people on here decree.

faffingturtle · 16/10/2016 14:24

I think you could find a nicer pair.
Wink

Toffeelatteplease · 16/10/2016 14:56

I think they are gorgeous and so much nicer than many of the Chelsea boots mentioned around here

how high is the heel?

QueenSpartacusOfTheAndals · 16/10/2016 15:06

Not very high, maybe 2 inches. Unfortunately my big feet and skinny ankle strike again as I've now tried them with a few outfits and it looks like I'm wearing boats on my feet!

Ha ha. Yes.

DameXanaduBramble · 16/10/2016 18:30

Mumaroony boots

megletthesecond · 16/10/2016 18:35

This is the problem with this season. Zara has the window dummies in heeled boots (verging on the mum-ish ) but with tailored skinny trousers, which seems to dilute the mum vibe.

If you wore those boots with boot cut trousers they would be totally mum, but maybe not with skinnies.

burnishedsilver · 16/10/2016 18:59

Yes. They define the genre Grin

QueenSpartacusOfTheAndals · 16/10/2016 19:07

Right, the search for a pair of non-mum ankle boots that aren't too wide shall continue!

dementedma · 16/10/2016 19:10

Doesn't matter what label people on MN use. If you like them, buy them and wear them.

BigApple11 · 16/10/2016 19:11

What are mum boots???

badtasteflump · 16/10/2016 19:47

They are probably mum boots but I like them Smile

If you're not sure you could just keep them for Halloween & wear them with too-short bootcut jeans & a nice fleece jacket Grin

missmayup · 16/10/2016 19:50

I actually think with the right clothing these would look great. Personally I'd pair them with sheer black tights, one of those "slip" style dresses with the pretty lace at the neckline and a nice camel duster style coat. :)

starsinyourpies · 16/10/2016 20:10

Sorry I hate them! What about something like this?

dementedma · 16/10/2016 20:18

£119 for those stars!! And ugly!
Good job we all have different tastes I suppose

nooddsocksforme · 16/10/2016 21:31

really like those stars -we all go for different things. Not keen on the m & s ones

starsinyourpies · 16/10/2016 21:50

I said something like these, they don't have to cost £120! Yes absolutely each to their own.

RoganJosh · 16/10/2016 21:52

I love the Boden ones actually.

FutureFoxglove · 16/10/2016 21:56

I do hunk these could be the archetypal Mum boot Blush

The heel is just a bit too low and chunky / sensible.

What about these:

Givememorewine · 16/10/2016 21:59

Oh I love those ones Future 😍

QueenSpartacusOfTheAndals · 16/10/2016 22:11

These are the ones I really like but they're way too wide around my calves Sad

If you team them with bootbut jeans and a hoodie then yes they are mum boots.
If you wear them with a dress and tights or skinny jeans (not blue!) then no they arnt.
I think they could look really good or really grumpy depends how you wear them

mummarichardson · 16/10/2016 22:17

They are a bit 'mumsy' however I feel your struggle, I can't find anything either which tick the box of comfy, stylish and that suit my shape/height. The flat Chelsea boots look ridiculous on me

RebelandaStunner · 16/10/2016 22:50

I have been boot shopping today and seen loads of much lovelier and less boring styles.
If you want them fine otherwise keep looking.
