Victoria Beckham, anorexic or victim of the press?

Ive just finnished watching 'Whats eating Victoria Beckham'. Am i the only one who thinks that she is being victamised? Do you think she is too thin? I think that she is very slim, but i feel very irritated by people calling her ill, is it because in this day and age when a 3rd of the population are obese we find a very slender girl intimidating and anorexic looking? Im 10.5 so its not that im skinny. What are your thoughts?

hhhmm, interesting point, Tortoiseshell. i still think she is starving herself, which isn't healthy, but the idea of a separate celeb disorder is worth thinking about.

But can someone who is anorexic and be that 'ill' have 3 children? Seriously does anyone know?

I didn't see the programme, but I think she has an eating disorder. She looks like a lollipop with her tiny tiny body. She is much smaller than when she was in the Spice girls. I am a size 8/10 and people say I am too skinny.
I can't see how she can stay healthy at the size she is. She isn't naturally that small and it must mess up the body.

she is anorexic and lots of girls aspire to look like her. It is terrbile. Victim of the press my buttocks - she does it to get press attention.

She should consider the long term effects on her health.

I know a 14 year old who is tiny, she is taller than me, so about 5ft 3, and a small size 6/8. And her mum tells her she is fat!!!! Her younger sister is 11 and she told me that she was also on a diet because apparently she is fat too. I gave some of my outgrown jeans to the older girl and they fitted her perfectly, and they were from when I lost over a stone in weight (due to stress) and went to 6 1/2 st.

I'm really thin (5'10 and size 8 (or size0 in Gap)) and I've got 3 children and eat quite a lot really, including plenty of chocolate and always, always croissants and cappuccino for breakfast. There's no reason to assume she's anorexic just cos she's very skinny. Def not a victim though, and what's with that daft pouty look for the cameras?

Interesting tortoiseshell about "celbrity disorder".

I caught a glimpse of an award ceremony the other day and practically every single female celbrity had a body which was painfully thin and where you could see the bones. Really, really ugly and shocking - all these designer clad ghosts. Most unsettling it was, I had to rush out and buy a chocolate cake.

I had childhood anorexia and was told I wouldnt be able to have children but I found help and managed to have 2 babies so it is possible, unlikely but possible.

If your BMI goes below 18 apparantly you stop menstruating, so that would stop you getting pregnant.

18 is very low though

That doesn't always apply though. I have never had a BMI above 17 and I have 2 kids with no problems conceiving.

It is my natural size though, not something I have dieted to attain.

Agree with lizzielou's analysis of her eating disorder. It is sad because when she was Posh Spice she really had the best legs in the world, despite being actually quite a short girl (5'3" according to Harpers Bazaar, which may explain why she was the same-ish height as the other Spices, who are all 5'1"-5'2"). But I don't like feeling sorry for her because I think she's pretty fab. She's always very funny, very self-deprecating and dry, and I get annoyed when I watch her trying to broaden her humour so that people don't think she's just thick, and even then people think she's just thick. I remember her talking about saying she needed to send David Preparation H because he was on the bench so much, and that Gillian whatever woman on Parkinson's Radio show saying 'Well, I think that was too much information' sniffily, and just assumiung someone as common and stupid as VB couldn't possibly make a joke. The same with David saying he couldn't do his kid's homework, or every other joke either of them make, because it suits the world to believe they're way stupider than average people - which they're obviously not.

Another reason I like her is that I read her autobiography and she's pretty adorable in it. She had terrible skin at school and was bullied a bit by the pretty girls and is always going to feel like a spotty plain girl (how much she must love reading every new 'poll' that reveals VB is the woman girls would least like to look like, the woman men would least like to sleep with, the most annoying person of the year etc.). And yeah, she wanted fame and she likes it and she certainly likes the dresses and things that come with it, but that doesn't make her immune to the nastiness. And I guess that's why I would guess she has an eating disorder and hates her body.

Oh not BMI, sorry, it's body fat isn't it. If your body fat percentage goes below 18%. (I can't remember what it's supposed to be to be healthy)

ah, well i know someone who was in her year at school and she says that while VB was certainly not popular she and her father brought a lot of it on themselves.
apparently the school had a set of gates and a long driveway and NO-ONE was allowed to take a car through the gates, not even the headmistress or teachers. every day, her dad would drive past pupils and teachers and drop his kids off at the front door. apparently even the teachers resented it, and asked her many times to stop him doing it. his fault, yes, but that's the truth of the 'they bullied me cos my dad had a Rolls' story.
apparently she did loads of drama groups and all her friends were from there rather than school, and she was seen as a bit 'theatrical' and up herself at school.
i think she's quite funny, actually, but she is too thin and her tits are ludicrous.

I have a BMI of 17.5 and I have been pregnant 5 times!!! I have 3 children. I have regular period too.
I have never starved myself to keep myself thin, infact since having the kids I have gained weight and DH thinks I look better now than when we met and I was about 6st.
