If any? Taking stock as another birthday looms, would like to go sleeveless for one more summer, but need to tone the arms without going to gym - what can I do at home?
many thanks

rock climbing (of the indoor variety)
also amazing for shoulder, neck and back muscles and, more importantly, saggy boobs!

Try the sitting on the edge of a dining chair and place both hands at the edge. You then lower yourself down to the floor and lift yourself up again using your arms. Davina McCall DVD had some good arm exercises. You could use some arm weights as well.

Hey thanks - this is good cos simple enough for me to do right here now - ouch -

start making your own bread

by hand

daily

the kneading will give you fabulous arms

and you'll have fresh bread too

fashionsista is that a joke!! How could anyone lower themselves onto the floor while their hands are on the edge on their seat AND back up again!!???

fashionsista · 06/02/2007 17:56

It is not a joke. you don't go all the way down obviously but you do lower your self. Just tried to and make sure, yep it is no joke!

fashionsista · 06/02/2007 17:57

10 times a set! great for your wings

bossykate · 06/02/2007 17:59

fashionsista is right - tricep dips they're called... not that i do any!

soph28 · 06/02/2007 17:59

mmmmmmmm sorry- totally missed the 'at home' bit! so short of building your own climbing wall- I guess that one's out

fashionsista · 06/02/2007 18:02

These instructions are off the net....

Tricep Dips
Tricep dips are great for the...drumroll please...tricepsor those muscles on the backs of your arms that my grandmother calls 'boing' for reasons I don't need to explain. This exercise is nice because it also involves other muscle groupsthe shoulders, abs and back all work to keep you stable--your legs too! Do it right: Begin sitting on a step or chair with hands next to thighs. Balance on your arms, moving backside in front of the step with legs straight (harder) or bent (easier). Bend the elbows and lower body a few inches, keeping the shoulders away from your ears and the elbows parallel to one another, going no lower than 90 degrees. Push back up to starting position. Repeat for 2-3 sets of 8-12 repetitions. If you have any wrist or shoulder problems, skip this exercise.
