Night serum recommendations please- thinking about hylamide

I'm running out of my current serum-Advanced Night Repair by Estée Lauder. I like it but fancy a change. Am thinking about getting the hylamide subq serum. Has anyone used it? Is it any good? Any other recommendations? I'm 40 with normal to sensitive skin.
TIA

It definitely makes me look less tired. I have a stubborn frown line on my forehead and it keeps it at bay.

Nab I went to space nk for that but came away with the highlighter not the blusher - next time .... I don't live near a city tho so will have to be patient !

ginorwine · 24/09/2016 22:25

WTAFF
The serum looks good !
I'm getting Intrested now instead of giving in !

Nabootique · 24/09/2016 22:44

Ooh, I like the highlight as well. I have three of the blushes and don't seem to use anything else on my cheeks now, although the Max Factor Creme Puff ones are a good dupe if they're easier for you to get hold of. Much cheaper too!

Indecisivejo · 25/09/2016 07:44

Nabootique how do u use the hylamide glow booster, I use the hylamide sub q serum then my moisturiser so where would the glow booster fit in?? Tia x

Nabootique · 25/09/2016 08:20

I cleanse, tone, then the glow booster, then anything else. They just say to use it like a serum, but as the texture is very watery (like Hylamide) it should go on first. I always worry that if I put it on over something else it might affect even absorption and obviously wouldn't want that with anything that adds colour! Grin

Nabootique · 25/09/2016 08:22

Oh, and if using with Hylamide I'd still put it on first, although the textures are pretty much the same. I use the NIOD hyaluronic product, which also has that watery texture, and do glow booster first.

Hi again nab
I've looked for vit c serum and there appears to be lots - any brand you wd recommend please ? Thanks 😄

Nabootique · 26/09/2016 12:17

Hi gin. Do you have a budget in mind? I use the Zelens C Drops which are stupidly expensive, but lovely. There are different types of vitamin C and some oxidise quicker than others. Generally, if you go with a budget option, it will be a less stable formula and will go off quicker. Some others which look good (although I've not tried myself) are Dennis Gross Vitamin C serum (bit pricey), indeed labs C24 (although it's silicone heavy, but this helps stabilise it, and you can get it in Boots!), Hylamide (surprise suprise!) and NIOD do a good one as well.

ginorwine · 27/09/2016 10:20

Thanks nab
I have no idea of budget I just want a product that gives me glow as I feel like a dried out trout !
I can do £££ if works as can cut down on other stuff .
We have a small boots so will look at yr last recommendation !
Also , I get flakes of the large variety on my nose . Does this suggest the need for exfoliation ? I have Liz Earle exfoliator . I don't kno if I shd be using anything more to get my skin shedding / renewed ? Those nip tuck things . ? I lack collegen I think as well as glow and I wonder if I need to exfoliate more ? Thanks so much I'm trying to take action rather than give in ! 😜

Nabootique · 28/09/2016 14:13

Oops, only just saw this, so sorry for my tardiness! Yes, sounds like you need to exfoliate. You can use a very gentle scrub if you prefer, but acid exfoliating is better really, less harsh on the skin. Good starter ones are Nip+Fab Extreme Night Pads (they aren't extreme at all). They aren't expensive so they're nice to try out in case you find you don't get on with it for whatever reason, and another thing you can get in Boots Smile

Indecisivejo · 28/09/2016 16:25

Sorry nabootique I didn't realise you had responded to my question on here, I just started a new thread about it! Someone responded saying it made them Orange?! Does it have this affect on u? Also do u use u every single day? Lastly Wat is NIOD?? Thanks Grin

Nabootique · 28/09/2016 16:49

Aww, it didn't make me orange and I am very fair! Shame it didn't work out for them, I luffs it. I used it twice a day for a few days and then once a day/every other day to sort of maintain it. NIOD is another Deciem brand (same people who make Hylamide) and I use their hyaluronic acid serum, which is really similar in consistency to Hylamide.

Indecisivejo · 28/09/2016 17:21

Thank you :) it's 1/3 off in boots at mo so may try it! What's the difference between the hylamide serum and the NIOD one then? And where do u get it from?

WholiaRoberts · 28/09/2016 21:57

I've just given my skincare products an overhaul. I'm 46 with very sensitive skin. I'm now using NeoStrata.

Nabootique · 29/09/2016 08:04

I got mine from Look Fantastic (if you get emails from them there is nearly always a discount code you can use). The ingredients are different, in that the NIOD one has more stuff in it (I think the owner of the brand said it was "a more sophisticated Hylamide" or something). I tried it after finishing Hylamide and it just works better for me. I find the hydrating effects more long lasting.
