Following on from what some dickhead hr guy said about his thoughts while interviewing women with big engagement rings, it triggered this question for me. I've always played safe with the handbag.

I reckon it's fine. I wore my mulberry to my last interview and got the job.

I would say it's ok but then I wore my huge rock too and no non dickhead HR manager ever said a word to me

A flashy one that very much screams its name probably not, but an understated expensive bag that doesn't detract should be absolutely fine.

I interview and wouldn't take it into account one way or the other. It is your ability to do the job and work in the team that matter.

Agreed with Fletcher plus I probably wouldn't even notice what bag anyone has

I should have linked the article. It wasn't too long ago. Recently some male recruiter made derogatory comments about women going in to an interview wearing an expensive engagement ring. Not a problem I have myself!

Would only avoid it if it's very blingy and branded, fine if it's discreetly expensive.

I took my engagement ring off for my job interview for my current job. I had the interview after getting engaged but before getting married. I suppose I was worried they wouldn't want to employ an engaged woman in her early 30s if they assumed I'd be off on maternity leave straight away.

My engagement ring is quite large and also unusual so always gets noticed and commented on.

It wasn't actually all that expensive but probably looks more expensive than it is to the untrained eye.
