I've found a dress I like, kinda ... can anyone find one similar?

I tried on this dress this morning, and liked it. Only a) I don't love the colours, would rather bluey purply and b) it's a bit low-cut by my lights. I do love the style, the cut, the empire-waist thing, and the pattern (e.g. pucciesque). Oh, and the fabric is nice, too.

Anyone know of anything similar? High street probably simplest.

I hate shopping, and don't actually own any reasonably casual dresses I can stand, so finding something I liked was quite nice.

(I have a black tie do and a wedding coming up this spring, so will no doubt be on this bit of MN more in the near future. )

Anyone know of anything more Pucciesque in this line?

sorry I missed this yesterday - have a peek at Dorothy Perkins - several print ones but also some rather fab (and cheap) colour-block ones in the right shape.

this?

or this from monsoon

NotQuiteCockney · 04/02/2007 16:47

Oooh, thank you MrsB. I can get to a DottyP no problem, and the orange and black one looks just right.

Hmm, the second of those looks nice, but not machine washable, so probably not a goer. Can silk chiffon be handwashed?

what about this?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 04/02/2007 16:51

this would suit you

NotQuiteCockney · 04/02/2007 16:52

VVVQV, that came up with all the next dresses?

I am going to have to go through my wardrobe and start hunting for outfits for April soon, too. I have a wedding near the start of April, no idea how formal (hotel, atheists, friends not family), and a black-tie (I think?) do at the end of April.

All my formal clothes are from pre-kids (size 18 rather than 14/16). I could (finally) get my wedding dress dyed another colour and wear that to one of them ...

Hmm, I like the print ok on that one, but I thought wraps really suited the elaborately norked? I am most definately not elaborately norked ...

debenhams

VeniVidiVickiQV · 04/02/2007 16:57

definitely you too

NotQuiteCockney · 04/02/2007 16:58

Oooh, that one's very pretty indeed. And cheap, particularly for what it is.

I like the check pattern, but dresses without fitted waists (ideally empire) really make me look big.

Don't forget Oasis, who seem to regularly stock some like this:

blue swirly silk and this: brown chiffon and I think this one has featured already in the style section! grey knit dress
