My initial thoughts are it's silly. But I thought skinny jeans were stupid when they first came out however many years ago. And now most of my jeans are skinny. Also, sleeveless coats are silly, but they were/are a thing. and I have one stuffed somewhere Grin

It's just a long thick cardigan!!!

I LOVE that Boden one. I have a navy one a bit like it from Jigsaw and i wear it constantly. It goes with absolutely everything. I love coatigans.

I don't like the one linked, but generally, I like this type of item. I live in the South West and even in the depths of winter, I don't feel like I need a massive warm coat. So this type of thing is ideal for me especially for things like trips to the shops, school drop-offs, that sort of thing.

This one I like a lot more and looks like something Jaeger did last year or year before, only much cheaper Coatigan

I think they've been a 'thing' for a while although they seem to elicit a marmite type response in people. I am a SAHM and I wore mine a lot last winter, as I keep the heating on low during the day. Most offices seem to be overheated so if you work in an office, I suppose you'd use it as a coat instead of a cardi.

In in the northwest and I love a coatigan. If it's a sunny autumn or even winter day, they are oerfect. Or for a city day when you are in and out.
I don't like the belt over a cardy though. What do you do with the belt when you take the coatigan off? Unwieldy,

This is my most recent one from Zara, I really like it!

I'm going to wear it with leather leggings and a longline white shirt, or jeans and a crew neck fine knit thing when its a bit colder.

I love a coatigan!
Wore them all last winter as only go from heated home to car to work and back.
I hate proper coats. I'm petite and I feel all restricted and swamped in them.

I quite like the Boden one but can't see how it's anything other than a cardy, really. I had the funnel neck bouclé version from Boden last year (in the sale, obvs) and it was cosy but I agree that there are about 1.5 days per year when they're suitable. And if it rains, you smell and feel like a wet dog pretty quickly.
