Best primer

I've never used a primer, but have read lots of threads recently where people say how great it is.

So, can you recommend me a primer please? I'm in my 40s and my skin is prone to dryness although I do have a bit of an oily t zone by the end of the day.

I have read somewhere about an oil primer, don't recall who by though.
I would be interested to try that.
has anyone already tried it?

W7 is available on Amazon and B&M.

Flash beauty balm made me break out along my jawline every time. My cousin was thrilled as she happily snapped it up. Mind you lanacane made me breakout too.

I used to wear beauty flash balm as moisturiser many moons ago. It's a primer of sorts I guess - it's meant to perk up 'tired skin'. Can't say that it has any real effect on how your make up looks and wears, but I do look less knackered.

Nivea post shave balm for sensitive skin is what the MUA's are raving about now, it's pretty amazing .

Tried the W7 Porefection today and I'm very impressed. Put makeup on around 7am today, just taken it off before going to bed and complexion still looked good and from the state of the cotton wool, my foundation had stayed on my face for pretty much that whole 15 or so hours. Without primer, or when I just use the Olay CC I mentioned before, I'm lucky if my foundation is still on my face at lunchtime! Have tried benefit porefessional as well and I liked it, but the Porefection knocks it out of the park for me! Great price too.

(DH is a little Hmm at all the Amazon packages I'm getting - just got some eyeshadow palettes too Grin)

Tried Maybelline Baby Skin last week after many rave reviews (also, it's so cheap it's basically free) and OMG the breakout. Angry

Got a little red clarins pot for free years ago and had no idea how to use it, any advice v welcome, following with interest.

Actually I believe it's the primer which has caused the spots and they are getting worse and there are more of them. Grim. Does anyone know what the spot causing ingredient(s) might be? Such a shame because I liked the other effects.

I had a read of the packaging and a shufty online and I think it's the silicone causing the break outs. Can anyone recommend a silicone free primer instead please?

It is most likely the silicone, OP. Not all silicones are "bad" and they definitely serve a purpose, but high street primers tend to use dimethicone mostly, or variations thereof, and it's the one that causes the most issues.

Silicone free primers which are lovely are the two Pixi ones (one is glowy, the other for oilier skin, but not drying at all) and the Becca Backlighting Filter primer, which is another glowy one.
