Aqueous cream as cream cleanser?

My colleague uses this as a hot cloth cream cleanser. She has fab skin. I have heard mixed reviews about using aqueous creams. My skin is prone to redness and tightness so am wary. Wise skincare gurus, does aqueous cream make a good hot cloth cleanser?

Following with interest.
My granny always swore by aqueous cream, she used it for everything!

I tried it once as a cleanser, it made my face sting.

I find it quite messy and drying tbh and would prefer a cleansing balm if going down the hot cloth route.

But it'd at least be a fairly cheap experiment!

Yes true! It's a cheap experiment!

I do this - it's fab! (I have crap skin!) really cheap too so worth a go Smile

Just to add it is drying If used as a moisturiser so that's why it's not recommended for exzema any more it is still recommended to add to bath water etc (my kids have inherited my skin sadly) and I don't find it drying as a cleanser as its being washed off.

I do this too! Usually use coconut oil but bought aqueous cream instead to take on holiday to avoid having to pack a glass jar. It works very well for me. Though once it's gone I'll start on the coconut again as that's even better.

NO! Do not do this, especially if your skin is already prone to redness and tightness. Aqueous cream contains sodium lauryl sulphate which is an irritating detergent. Try Ponds cold cream instead.

Thanks Seren. I think I will give a miss and stick to my normal cleanser. I don't fancy aggravating my skin!

Some aqueous creams contain lanolin, which can really irritate sensitive skin. My mum used to swear by E45, but my face felt like it was burning when I tried it.
