I hate shopping for make up. Always get the wrong colour or get sucked into a sales pitch but can't avoid it anymore. Need a foundation for pale but flushed skin. I like to look natural but need a decent coverage and it needs to last!! And I need a mascara that doesn't give me panda eyes. Have been using benefit oxygen wow and Chanel imitable mascara which are ok but am looking to try something new. Please help! I need to look polished for some uber important work meetings next week! I found double wear too heavy for my skin. Tried Mac but it went orange. After many years of trying I finally this year found my holy grail foundation.

I wear YSL fusion ink, gorgeous silky feel, non cakey but build able coverage. SPF 18 too.

Mascara wise I like diorshow and too faced better than sex but both give quite a 'full' look.

shadesofwinter · 03/09/2016 19:18

I swear by Estée Lauder DW so no good for you, but the cheap mascara I tried ages ago and have recently gone back to is a Max Factor one, I really like it.

TheForeignOffice · 03/09/2016 19:18

Mac gigablack lash is a good mascara.

Only1scoop · 03/09/2016 19:22

YSL touché eclait foundation.

I have to use EL mascara double wear for work as only one I find which doesn't smudge.

Love Lancôme definicils also

Nanasueathome · 03/09/2016 19:28

It's quite expensive but is pump action bottle and I find that just one pump is enough to cover my whole face with a good coverage
Have had mine almost 6 months and there is still plenty in the bottle
Slightly glory, which is what I like
I do use a moisturiser underneath but that is my preference
Usually apply moisturiser and then foundation about 5 mins later
The foundation is quite moisturising anyway so could get away without the base if required
Comes in a very wide range of colours so one to suit most people
If you sign up in Cult Beauty website you will probably get a welcome discount but they do send discount codes/ offer codes all the time

Nanasueathome · 03/09/2016 19:30

Above is re Face Atelier and should say slightly glowy rather than glory
Stupid autocorrect

Nanasueathome · 03/09/2016 19:34

It's the ultra foundation
Have just checked and it is also available on Amazon

Emz449 · 03/09/2016 19:34

Lancôme hypnose drama is one that I always go back to despite trying others.

Personally use Estée Lauder dw but maybe the light version would be better for you Smile

ArieltheMermaid1720 · 03/09/2016 19:47

I used to use more expensive products but have recently started using (and loving) no7 luminous foundation and l'oreal - can't remember the name but it's the one in the gold tube.

StuffYouAllInTheCrust · 03/09/2016 19:48

I can see you like the more expensive make up but if you wanted an absolute bargain I got an amazing mascara in B&M of all places called W7 false lash effect mascara and it is amazing! Looks great and stays put all day - looks exactly the same when I come to take it off at bedtime as it did when I first put it on in the morning. £1.99! Blush I tend to use max factor, rimmel or loreal but I was in a hurry and grabbed this to try and can honestly say it beats all of the above hands down. I believe it's also sold in TJ Hughes.

DustyBottoms · 03/09/2016 20:59

Have a look at Sheer Glow from NARS. They have a colour called Mont Blanc which is pale but with a pink underdtone. It's medium to full coverage which is pretty forgiving on dry or oilyness and its long lasting too.

OnlyEatsToast · 03/09/2016 21:47

Thanks everyone! The beauty counters won't know what's hit them tomorrow!

I use a BB cream. Should I be wearing foundation over that? I thought that did the same job? You would think being in my 50s I would have figured this out by now....I have a sallow/olive skin tone and find it hard to get a good match.

ninnypoo · 04/09/2016 09:37

Mascara- Soap and Glory (silver tubed one). I've used Benefit, Estée Lauder, Dior and this is by far my favourite.

Blueisthemagicnumber · 04/09/2016 10:56

No 7 beautifully matte light. Great colour match, doesn't break me out, which double wear does.

OnlyEatsToast · 04/09/2016 11:32

About to head to the counters! Wish me luck!

EL Doublewear Light is my makeup bag staple but am trying out Doll10 Hydragel concealer and foundation at the moment.

So far (2 x wearing) I'm really liking it. I have discovered that you need a minuscule amount and that you buff it into the skin with the supplied brush. It gives a slightly more dewy, younger look to my skin than the Doublewear.

Dizzydodo · 04/09/2016 12:08

Benefit they're real mascara

Clinique beyond perfecting foundation

wishiwasacollie · 04/09/2016 12:12

Armani foundation. Good as light coversge or more for evening. Tried a lot of other ones and this one suits my skin

SleepFreeZone · 04/09/2016 12:15

I love Max Factor Ageless Elixir 2 in 1. I am 41, I use it without any powder and it gives coverage whilst being dewy. Really gorgeous stuff. Think the shade I use is Buff.

SleepFreeZone · 04/09/2016 12:16

Hit me with you favourite foundations and mascaras!
MinnieF1 · 04/09/2016 12:18

Good luck!

Tarte is also a really good brand but only available online in the UK (I think anyway, I have never seen them in shops). Their mascaras are amazing. Too faced better than sex is also really good (not the waterproof one).

If you're after a natural coverage then have you thought about one of those water based foundations that are all the rage? Like Mac studio waterweight or Tarte rainforest of the sea? There's a few from different brands. They tend to come in glass bottles with a dropper to dispense.

God my makeup addiction is really showing Blush

MinnieF1 · 04/09/2016 12:19

Make up forever HD foundation is really nice too. Very pale shades and a sheer coverage but it can be built up.

OnlyEatsToast · 10/09/2016 09:35

Thanks all! Sorry didn't update. I tried Clinique counter (lady lovely, gave me a foundation sample but i wasn't convinced about it), chanel - lady lovely but they 'don't do samples' Hmm but then Bobbi Brown who were totally amazing. Spent loads of time with me, no hard sell and gave me some samples to try (foundation and face cream) - converted me to being a fan. Am still using the sample they gave me but think I will go ahead and buy. Thanks all for your help!
