Just wondering if anyone would be brave enough to post a picture of their wardrobe with the doors open?
Is it crammed full of clothes, minimalist, all the same colours or a mix.
Do you have a ridiculous amount of clothes or hardly any?
I don't want to be the first to post as I'm not sure if I have a lot of clothes compared to others or not as many!
Anyone???

I don't actually tend to spend that much, most are pre loved Wink or gifts from photo shoots

knitknack · 30/08/2016 20:24

I can ONLY join in here because I spent the entire day yesterday sorting out what was a total disaster!! 6 bin bags later, Blush this is me, except my dresses which are in another cupboard thing, and work trousers which are in another drawer!!

Lovely colours knit

knitknack · 30/08/2016 20:38

Thanks Gin! It's only taking these pics that made me realise what a def 'palette' of colours I have!!

Turntopage394 · 30/08/2016 20:40

Can't post as we are currently half way through moving house.
But usually I have a double wardrobe and a set of drawers to myself that are crammed full of stuff I never seem to wear Blush.
Still trying to find my own style as I've come to the conclusion im no longer a teenager Grin lol.

Oblomov16 · 30/08/2016 20:43

Can't believe how organised and colour co-ordinated all of yours are.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/08/2016 21:16

Here's my main wardrobe. From left to right - jackets, tops, skirts, trousers, dresses. Jeans go on top in a pile, knitwear is under the bed in 2 boxes, t-shirts and vests go in a drawer. Summer-only clothes are in a separate wardrobe in spare room with coats and "relegated" items, belts and scarves are on special hangers in another cupboard. I took the pic just after I got the shoe rack, which made me very happy :) (it's from Costco)

Openup41 Thanks, I do like colour Grin. I still have odd things from 10+ years ago, most stuff dates between 2009 - present day. Definitely don't spend £100s a month, I keep a blog and publish a budget post at the end of each month. Get a lot on eBay, this year on average I've spent £35 a month with one month at zero spend. It's still too much I am aware of that but I try to rotate everything round so it all gets worn at least Blush

I'm really nosey, probably why I like reading blogs, so I enjoy seeing all your pictures, storage solutions and colour schemes!

mowglik · 31/08/2016 17:11

Gin I love the colours of your wardrobe, lovely muted shades. Wish I could wear these colours but having done a colour analysis day I've realised that they do nothing for me. I have too many clothes that don't work colour wise and need to pare down badly. Here are mine, first are my tops and second has my dresses and t-shirts and vests and scarves in the cubby holes. My trousers and skirts are in drawers

Ah thank you mow - funnily enough every colour analysis thing I've done always says to avoid those colours, but they really are the colours that suit me after a lot of trial and error. Probably a lot of room for error online though, perhaps I should have paid for a day like you did.

DavetheCat2001 · 31/08/2016 17:58

haha I definitely think I win a Biscuit for the messiest, most unorganised wardrobe!

BeaLola · 31/08/2016 20:26

Oh my - you are all very tidy and minimalist !

I have both built in wardrobes in our bedroom - every thing is crammed in and some hangers have more than one item on them, hence I struggle to find things sometimes .... I also have a cupboard in study that houses coats and work uniform plus 3 chest of drawers in spare room that take nightwear, underwear, tights tops and knitwear. Oh and in loft is evening wear that probably won't fit anymore and winter shoes / boots. All m handbags are in storage under bed ... I do throw things away, sometimes !

GinAndOnIt · 31/08/2016 20:45

I used to have hangers with a few items on each one, and it used to give me the rage every single time I opened the wardrobe, so that combined with moving house a lot has made me cull nearly all of my wardrobe. Now I love a good throw away - we moved here in March and I haven't worn about 50% of my summer clothes hanging up, so I'm going to put those in a suitcase. If I don't wear them for a holiday in the next year, they will be gone!

GinAndOnIt · 31/08/2016 20:48

I also read a good tip on here about having a set number of coat hangers, and if you want to buy something new, you have to make sure you have an empty coat hanger or get rid of something to make space for it. It's a good idea I think!

lasttimeround · 01/09/2016 09:23

My turn. This is all of it bar a drawer for socks knickers belts and tights. Best bit is the hung up necklaces. Worst bit is I need to look into the containers to see what's there.
blair where's your shoe rack from? It's great.

Amazed at the number of organised, tidy wardrobes here. Won't post a photo of mine as it's spilling out everywhere and I'v started to colonise DH's space.

I have too many clothes.

lasttimeround · 01/09/2016 09:54

Can see from this how much my interest in kondo and minimalism has warped my perception of an ordinary tidy closet. I always feel I have too much stuff if it isn't a curated rail of 5-7 'pieces' in gradations of 1 colour. You guys are helping me normalise!

Oldraver · 01/09/2016 11:50

Openup thank you...I do like a bit of colour though it does sometimes mean its not really a 'cupsule' wardrobe.

The spotty dress has a St Micheal label and I reckon it must be from about 1990...I found it at the back of the wardrobe and was so glad it fit

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/09/2016 12:26

last it is from Costco, but here's a similar one on Amazon, there are probably more!

MrsSeanBeanIsAtWork · 01/09/2016 12:45

Loving this thread - and impressed at MNers tidy wardrobes.

I will join in with a pic when I am not at work.

However - and apology for slight thread hi-jack, but I seem completely incapable of ever having a satisfactory tidying session. I do clear-outs (following various methods - i.e. KonMari, not worn in a year etc etc) but still somehow always manage to get rid of the wrong things.

I spent 3 hours yesterday hunting for a classic beige v neck sweater which I clearly (in one of my madder episodes) I had dispensed with. I mean, how dumb can I get... I still have burgundy sprigged hideous sleeveless tops.... but in my wisdom I got rid of a classic sweater Confused

Any advice from the owners of these fab looking wardrobes would be most welcome!

GinAndOnIt · 01/09/2016 13:34

I tend to just try things on, and if I have a bit of a 'hmm I wish that bit was a bit longer/shorter' wobble then I just get rid. I was a bit fed up a few years back, as I moved from the country to London and chucked all my 'classic' staples and replaced with more edgy stuff. Which was great for London, not so much now I'm back in the country! But I feel like I'm only just responsible enough for more expensive clothes, so I'm gradually replacing an edgy piece with a more expensive classic piece, which is better than the original classic piece I once had IYSWIM.

I think the most important thing is to find the cut of clothes that really suits you, and the colours too, and then stick with that shape and colour when you buy. I reckon there must have been a reason for you to throw out the beige jumper, if it had been perfect you would have been wearing it constantly!

MrsSeanBeanIsAtWork · 01/09/2016 13:40

Good point Gin - and I am normally very cautious, I tend to keep if slightest doubt. You're probably right, I'm just remembering it with rose tinted spectacles!

I can empathise with the edgy / classic thing totally. When country based I wear a lot of Joules type stuff... and when not it's more edgy modern designer-y bits which would just look foolish in the 'shires.

lasttimeround · 01/09/2016 16:04

Thanks Blair that will help with my dead space/pile of stuff at bottom of wardrobe.
In terms of minimalism and chucking out I find I'm slightly envious of the brightly coloured fuller wardrobes. Although I do find just looking at the picture of mine makes me smile - that can't be bad. I think id like a few more elaborate items and will use next few pyrchases in that direction. I use konmarie as far as budget allows. Spark joy? If not but can't afford joy sparking substitute I keep but put it on my 'want list' and replace when I can.
I go have a box in the loft of not fitting clothes (my weight fluctuates so I have items up snd down the way. I've learned it's folly to chuck out all the larger sizes) and some heavier jumpers warmer clothes for later in the year.
