Day cream that doesn't cost the earth and will help

I'm 42 and starting to show a bit of wear and tear on my face and neck. I have never been the best at a daily beauty routine and don't wear make up but could do with a good moisturiser that may help .

I have recently lost about 10 lbs and the skin on my face feels more loose and wrinkly, it could do with a bit of help tightening up if that's possible. I don't have a lot of money but am prepared to spend a bit if something works - I think vanity has finally hit me Grin

no day cream will work permanently or 'repair' these problems, you are better spending your money on Botox or a face lift. Don't waste your money on expensive creams that do nothing more than a cheaper cream. Something with hyaluronic acid in it will give a temporary effect ..

I used to like the Avène range, available in Boots. There are usually testers available so you could try before you buy.

Superdrug B. range is great and affordable enough to try the full range (often on offer as well).

Thanks for these, I'll have a look.

I wouldn't have any kind of surgical treatment. I know if I made the effort each day I would feel better, I just need to give something new a try I think as I have used the same basic Olay stuff for years.

I am a similar age to you and love the boots serum as a daily moisturiser. I can notice when I haven't used it for a few days.

No cream tightens or firms skin, all lies. Clever wording to avoid legal action.

Dehydration, weight loss, age, gravity , pollution and sun all take its toll on skin.

I'm 50 so yes, I look in the mirror and think "Oh" but like yourself I'm not heading down the surgery or Botox route.

At the moment, I'm using BodyShop Vit E cream. Its light, rubs in easily and doesn't sting.
Does it lift? Probably not.
Does it make my skin plumper and hydrated? I think so, combined with what's going on the inside.

My hormones are deserting me now. My Bitchy resting Face is getting more Restier. I look in the mirroir and I SEE MY MOTHER Shock

But, I can cope. I'm 50. My face is 50, not 20.

(But I'm told I look mid 30s so , pah I'm Good Wink )

Lucky you! ha I think that's my problem, I always looked younger than I was but I too am starting to look like my mum which makes me realise I'm getting older.

I used to use Boots vitamin E cream years ago when I was in my 20s and loved it.

I really need to drink more water but really don't like it unless I have been exercising.

Thanks everyone, I will start a good regime tomorrow - maybe Smile

I would say get a good acid toner and serum. I think pixi glow toner has made a bigger difference than any moisturiser ever has.

I am using a super facialist day cream from boots with spf which is less than £20.

I recently started using Eucerin Dry Skin Relief Facial Cream and think it's made my skin much better - more healthy looking.
