An exciting and warm winter mac

Breton tops other than Joules

easy to wear tunics that are fairly smart

I have another thread complaining about this decision on their part btw.

Loads of great suggestions and new places to check out on this thread. 😀

NicknameUsed · 21/08/2016 09:26

My sister is a 22/24 and bought some nice clothes in M and Co the other day.

AbyssinianBanana · 21/08/2016 09:34

I think Magenta has a great idea - buy these ridicilous wings (only nice thing on that site in my opinion) and nobody will notice your top

Presumably it's a business decision and cost-driven rather than an attempt at deliberately alienating their clientele!

botemp · 21/08/2016 11:21

Have you had a look at Mango's plus size range Violeta? The online outlet is also great for bargains for both seasons. They go up to a size 22. Plenty of Bretons, tunics, etc.

RockinHippy · 21/08/2016 14:19

@RockinHaippy, no I'm not selling it and don't own the business but simply a massive fan and a bit over enthusiastic!

Yiu areGrinSmile

glad you've found something that works for you

BestIsWest · 21/08/2016 15:27

Linea at House of Fraser have some nice stuff some of which goes up to a 22.

bingohandjob · 21/08/2016 17:14

Monki do great "oversize" tunics, t shirt dresses & tops which I think look fab on all body shapes. I wear medium and my pal , size 22, and looks great in their large sizes (look for the pieces that say "loose cut") and she swears by ASOS Curve. Seasalt coats are great and think in good range of sizes. I'm an 18 with very generous, ahem, of bust and they fit me really well.

BestIsWest · 21/08/2016 17:51

I also like Masai clothing for tunics though not always easy to find.

polyhymnia · 21/08/2016 18:53

Hi OP, just picked this up.
I too am greatly incensed to hear that Boden have stopped doing some styles including Breton tunics in a 22. Have protested to them loudly. Glad you're doing same. They said only a small proportion of their customers buy that size (ie, a commercial decision as suggested by a PP), yet 22 s sell out fast in all the nicer styles.

(Glad to see the well named balls
got the send off she deserved btw).m
Each to their own, but just personally I don't want to buy at Yours, Simply Be etc or from supermarkets. There are some other good suggestions here though and also a lot in an excellent thread current at moment on where and what to buy if you're 'old and fat'. Though obviously lots of posters aren't old!
Still haven't solved my own Breton tunic problem yet though ...

Northernlurker · 21/08/2016 18:58

I've had a reply saying that they will change what they supply as demand changes. So I've replied again asking how they judge demand for something they won't supply Hmm
Customer services said they were sure I'd find plenty if choice - so I replied with a list of ten things I like, none of which I can buy.

I recently discovered to my absolute delight Mango do a larger size range!!

Mummyshortlegz · 21/08/2016 19:03

The ssinsbury Breton top is lovely quality, I've just bought one. m.newlook.com/shop/inspire-plus-sizes/tops/curves-blue-stripe-3-4-sleeve-top_380779349 New look do a reason ale range.

Nettletheelf · 21/08/2016 19:08

No new suggestions but I had to join in to say FOR GOD'S SAKE DON'T TELL OFF THE POOR OP FOR ASKING WHERE TO FIND CLOTHES THAT FIT!!!!!

Good luck, OP. I hear that the Mango Violeta (?) range is very good.

JackandDiane · 21/08/2016 19:08

FUCKING HELL WHAT HORROR ARE THOSE

memyselfandaye · 21/08/2016 19:12

I think Yours goes up to size 32, its a bit hit and miss but there is some decent stuff, and Next is quite generous sizing

burnishedsilver · 21/08/2016 19:13

I read an article today about a new plus size range by Melissa Mccarthy. I've no idea of its available here but the photos were lovely so it might be worth investigating.

Mymouthgetsmeintrouble · 21/08/2016 19:13

I am a plus size lady and recently have bought from new look curve range (tops are good not keen on bottoms they are all high waisted but good if you like that i suppose) , sainsburys, m&s for trousers , asos i like the fact you can try on at home and h&m i have lots of things from there but i prefer to go instore to try on

Fozzleyplum · 22/08/2016 08:40

I've just had my "new collection email from Pure Collection, who do cashmere and some good staples like dresses, skirts, trousers, jackets and jersey tops. They have announced that they're now doing their key styles in sizes up to 24.

here

As with Boden, always wait for a discount - my email offers up to 40% off the new collection.

banivani · 22/08/2016 10:16

Northern
So I've replied again asking how they judge demand for something they won't supply

Brilliant retort. Very curious to see if they answer that.

Lucymatilde · 22/08/2016 10:28

They'll say they do market research, I expect, both of existing customers and more widely.

confuugled1 · 22/08/2016 10:42

I stopped wearing Boden stuff after I put on weight post DS2 - didn't realise they'd even done big sizes and now I discover they've stopped before I can look again.

Another vote for Sainsburys - their jeans (and cords in the winter) are great (I used to buy the M&S ones - I get loads more compliments wearing the Sainsburys ones!).

Their plain and stripey Tshirts are also very well cut and wear well. I have several that are at least 5 years old and they are still like new apart from a great big grease stain on the front on my favourite that I can't get out!

mejon · 22/08/2016 11:11

Braintree have some nice things in for autumn. Some of their things are a bit meh but they do lots of lovely tunics etc. Their sizing is pretty generous.
