Do you think chunky gold chains like the one in this pic are tacky?

What's your general opinion of them? I'm unsure whether to buy one and if I did I'm unsure if I'd wear it Grin.

I think it's awful, sorry. I generally really dislike any gold jewellery actually. Apart from wedding rings and engagement rings. I think silver or white gold looks more elegant. But that's just my opinion!

Tiggeryoubastard · 13/08/2016 17:16

Sorry I disagree, whathavei. It's a piece of tat that needs its own postcode or it's own space in a wheelie bin.
And I totally did the 80's. That would have been too much then.

Shatners 😳😀😀
That's another tee shirt needing a wash because I've spluttered coffee down it!

My sisters new dh wears those. It's Erm. Interesting
Bracelets and necklace, it's Erm. Yuck

Fuzzypeggy · 13/08/2016 17:27

Like previous poster said, it's about how you wear it and those 2 links show perfectly how it could look classy and elegant and also a bit edgy. Nothing is awful or amazing on its own, it all depends on how it's worn.

KoalaDownUnder · 13/08/2016 21:31

Thing is, Fuzzy, I'd disagree that either of those pictures look classy or elegant.

First one looks like a pouty footballer's wife or a wannabe-Kardashian, all teased-up ponytail and monogrammed gold studs (ugh).

Second one is doing the LV-handbag-in-arm-crook thing (nuff said).

In both cases, the The Chain just sets off the general naffness.

polyhymnia · 13/08/2016 21:48

Absolutely agree Koala . Those don't look classy for reasons you said, and certainly not 'edgy'.

VladmirsPoutine · 13/08/2016 21:56

I'm pretty sure that's Kim Kardashian in the "wannabe-Kardashian" picture Grin

Very tacky.

neveradullmoment99 · 13/08/2016 22:47

Awful.

GingerbreadGingerbread · 13/08/2016 22:54

I like them. If mid thirties or lower would look great over a black polo neck.

Nettletheelf · 13/08/2016 23:50

I had one just like it in 1986. From Chelsea Girl. I wore it with a red batwing sweater and thought I was the bee's knees.

I wouldn't wear one now!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/08/2016 23:55

It's the matching necklace to Chandler's friend back bracelet he gave Joey Grin

Random back Confused

Sparklesilverglitter · 14/08/2016 00:10

Tacky, It is very Mr T.

Step away op......

LilacSpunkMonkey · 14/08/2016 00:11

If you're in East 17 in the mid 90s then yes, it is an awesome necklace.

Otherwise no.

burnishedsilver · 14/08/2016 00:37

Ali G.

Fuzzypeggy · 14/08/2016 08:38

Well I think this one looks nice. It's about the way it's worn, not the item itself

I don't like gold jewellery anyway, I must admit.
But that one - though I still don't like it - is rather more subtle and well designed than the original horror. Still think the woman would like better and classier with a silver one.
