How much foundation do you put on?

Ok, so these are the foundations I have tried before & are using - Loreal Infallible, Rimmel Lasting Finish 24hr, Rimmel True Match, Max Factor Elixir, Revlon Colourstay & a couple from the Collection 2000 range. I moisturise 5-10 minutes before applying with my finger tips & I'd say I use about 2 pea sized amount. I use Collection 2000 loose powder to set in transulent which I like as it doesn't leave an orangey tinge. That or a No 17 face powder. By lunch time it looks like I have no make up on!!! Doesn't matter which foundation I use, it's gone by lunchtime! Am I using enough because when I apply I certainly seem to have enough to cover my face.

I'm 43, so I can't be trowelling it on, as I think that will make me look older? Do I need to look for a different foundation? I not on a position to be spending £££!!

What do we think ladies? My skin is fair, freckly & normal - dry.

I've tried to use a foundation brush before but I couldn't get on with it.

I agree with notamummy that applying foundation with a beauty blender is a good idea. I find it makes my foundation last longer. I dab it on in a couple of thin layers (though I haven't tried wetting the beauty blender).

I like Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder for daytime. For a long lasting look, Dior Forever is my go to foundation (though it covers freckles a bit!). I rarely feel that either foundation is flaky or coming off by the end of the day.

I think you're applying moisturiser too close to time you apply foundation.

I've never got on with translucent powder and have never used anything to 'set' foundation.

Some primers are great, some aren't.

I'm in my forties with fair sometimes dry skin and I like bare minerals brightening serum foundation, I use their round blush to apply it (only a few drops are needed) and it stays on all day. It's more expensive to buy initially but lasts longer so is an investment in the long run. Their primer is nice to have but by no means essential.

Also it takes about 2 seconds to apply so no faffing.

and wetting the beauty blender helps with the finish as it won't absorb the foundation as much, so you'll have a flawless finish!
