What raincoat & footwear are you wearing today??

It's rained all day here. Need a new raincoat so looking for inspiration

I like it! But think it'd look a little too boxy on me. I haven't seen anyone round here wear it

I bought a Seasalt Seafolly 1/2 price in the sales the other day and love it. Hoping it'll keep me dry on the school runs

How short is it? Does it cover your bum?

The sun is shining here, so no raincoat. I don't really 'do' raincoats tbh - I have a parka shaped cagoule thing that I wear if it's really chucking it down on a summer day; otherwise I tend to have a denim jacket and a brolly.

Footwear on rainy summer days is usually leather Converse.

Pre-children I was the same but now with a pram and a preschooler I don't have hands free for a brolly!

I tried the yellow Joules one on before heading over to Seasalt, and didn't like it. Felt like a fisherman! The size 14 didn't fit right, whereas the Seasalt one fits perfectly and had 100% waterproof on it (and was only £49.50 for the anchor one, 1/2 price). It sits just below my waist, so doesn't cover my bum unfortunately.

I have a littlie in a buggy and a 5yo so know what you mean about the brolly thing.

P.s don't know what your colouring is but I'm mousy/blonde and pretty sallow skinned so the yellow didn't suit. Would look fab on someone darker (and slimmer!) I'm sure.

Similar colouring here...yellow wouldn't suit!

Seasalt Hellweathers in orca (navy) from a few years ago. It's longer thigh length, perfect fit over my generous bum and bust, true to size, and I've given it a hammering in the rain and I love it. Don't get sweaty in it on my hour walk home in torrential rain through Spring, Summer and Autumn. Worth every penny. Would not hesitate to buy another below the bum Seasalt RAIN coat (in fact I did, longer length, fleecy lined one for winter and I love that, too!). I find the waist length ones lovely but just don't suit my shape (hips).

I'm sure I tried on a hellweather at John Lewis and found it really odd - paper thin and shapeless? I'd seen the style on someone else and loved it...it has poppers down the bottom at the back? Is it very lightweight?

I have a navy Extreme one from Mountain Warehouse (currently about half price at 50ish quid) which covers the bum of a tall person with a long torso, and a long one from Trespass, about 20 quid from their clearance. I like a bargain and actively avoid getting wet.

Yeah, the dip hem/parka style. I really like the style - but more important for me, doesn't get all sweaty and is properly waterproof..the rain just beads away. I'm not going to be stopped by a fashion blogger in the street but my clothes underneath will be dry and no wet bum and thighs. Style it out and keep dry. I spent a fortune on a North Face "city trench". It was like being in a bin bag and created it's own micro climate inside..I'm sure it rained under my arms. No such problem with Seasalt.

I have the seasalt janelle I think based on advice for here - it's not the most stylish, but it's incredibly well made, extraordinarily waterproof down to the knees (well tested in Northern Ireland, sob) which means that if you wear long boots you're completely covered. I foresee me wearing it for all the super rainy school/nursery/waiting for the bus/pushing the damn buggy like a poor little donkey with a lolling baby and an imperious toddler type weathers. It's not super stylish for me, when I can afford it I'll buy a cooler parka for when I escape from kids (when? when will this be? fantasy land)

It's so good that it would encourage you to take the kids to the park and hide inside it while they run around in the rain when it's been wet for three days in a row and they're climbing up the walls if you see what i mean.

Quite like the Joules one - I'm after something to chuck on for nights around the tent whilst camping - size 16-18... I'm really struggling to find something tha's not bank breaking! skint

I have a camouflage jacket from an ex army surplus store. I love it and it's got loads of pockets so no need to take a bag!

I've ordered a few from Seasalt to try so will report back!

I have this Oska hooded parka in green. It's insanely expensive at full-price (which I didn't pay), but has lasted me years, is very good quality, light, and very waterproof. And I like the way you can unzip the zip upward from the bottom as well as down from the top - especially if you have a long stride, like me.

I desperately need a raincoat, going to be spending a few days in a field in August in the north of Scotland so need to be ready for the rain and my usual summer jacket and umbrella won't cut it. So can anyone tell me if the Joules or the Seasalt raincoats come up large or small? I'd guess largish just because those kind of brands do (I'm thinking of the likes of Boden and Whitestuff) but don't want to order down a size to discover I have no time to get a replacement if it doesn't fit.
