Fake tan mishap - advice!

Hello

I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and a close female relative of the bride apparently doesn't like me because my husband went on a few dates with her and the stopped it because he wanted to be with me. So, call me shallow, but I want to look half decent!

Post two babies I'm looking a bit plump and have nothing good to wear. I've accepted that. But I thought I could work on the milk bottle legs with a gradual build up tan. Used it once last night and have streaks and big orange patches on my knees! How can I remove them?! Also, how should I apply it later to avoid more patches?

Any help gratefully receivedSmile

I had a fake tan disaster the night before my friend's wedding last week. I ended up with bright orange palms and knees. My husband was laughing at my hands for about ten minutes!
Anyway.
You need to get some bicarbonate of soda in a little bowl and add some water to make a paste. Rub it into dry skin where your streaks are. Rub well (the colour starts to come off) and then rinse well with soapy water.
Bet you look fab, don't worry about her, you got your DH. Her problem to 'not like you' without knowing you.
Have fun!

Oh and I've read that applying body lotion to knees beforehand and then applying the tan helps to prevent patches.

If it's orange it might not be the best colour for your skin, sit in a hot bath with baby oil for a while then when you get out rub the dodgy bits with a towel. Shaving your legs might get some of it off too.
Palmers cocoa butter do a really natural gradual tanning moisturiser, I apply it with a fake tan mit to avoid streaks.

Maybe, a wash off tan might be better. You're in control of the colour. Rimmel instant sun shimmer in fair (matte) is quite good.

Fake tan

Day before application exfoliate thoroughly (especially paying attention to dry areas like knees, ankles etc) and apply lots of body lotion/moisturiser preferably overnight.

Day of application wash and mild exfoliation.

Apply by putting fake tan itself on to problem free areas (like shins, calves) and then blending it over the problem areas like knees and ankles. In other words, don't apply a big blob of the fake tan to dry areas; don't apply it directly there at all - what should be going on to dry areas is a blend in of the blob.

Not sure I've explained that well . . .

Fake tan will cling to dry areas so the good news is that you can exfoliate off the worst of it.
If you can bear exposing your mistakes, swimming in an indoor pool will fade it considerably!
Next time, apply sparingly, avoid your knees and elbows and rub in really well so it all blends.
